Just finished and ran in my new av ap platforn the other day. It took 20 days from design to first flight. (would have taken less time if I didn't have "real work" for the machines.) now on to building a new gimble, just a few parts left to build. gimble will be 380* rotation with 120* tilt. now if only ups would show up with good blades.
thought I'd share

Now that's some cool stuff!

What's the max payload?

Flight time?

Thanks for sharing.

with no camera or gimble and a rough pitch setup. flying figure 8's and chappells about 18 min. with some left. (without visual telemetrics I get nervous pretty easy any longer than that.)
as far as payload, easily a camera and gimble. 22 amps hovering @ 34v and no pitch.

Nice design on the fuselage. Looking forward to some in-flight images!

Nice.

Are the Dewalt packs 'stock'? That would be a nice feature to just plug in the packs like a power-drill.

What does it weigh?

When in doubt...auto out

PS - With your building skills...have you considered a coaxial design?

That is an untapped market...

trex: right now it is slinging some 600 fibreglass cheapies. come monday, tuesday...... whenever ups decides I'm worthy. it will be slinging tt620 carbons (light camera setup) and swe665 carbons( heavy camera).

seablade: thanks, this weekend I hope to have the gimble completed and all of the telemetrics and video moved over from the three blade.

500driver: no the packs are not "stock" you have to remove the voltage and current limiting block from them and solder in your charge leads. you then can charge at a user definable rate up to 10c (23 amps) myself I charge to 4.5v @11a for a total pack voltage of 45v. I charge using a HP6274b rack mounted power supply. I used to have a mastech 5020e but it bricked on me after almost a year.

As far as a coaxial, I actually have one started, it is powered by a honda gx31 four stroke to a helical gear box with dual outputs both top and bottom to reverse the rotation and up through a common shaft.
It will have dual swashplates and pitch mixing through the main. It will be heavy though it will probably have to swing 2 set of 3 at 710, but the nice thing about a co-ax is if you need more lift all you have to do is put longer sticks on it.

As an aside, this heli, the new avp, is configured to be a dual fuel platform. basically drop 5 bolts remove the electric front, mount the gasoline front. and go fly gasoline powered.
thanks for the comments

like your ideas on the dual power supply! the coaxial sounds very interesting. Wish I still lived in Oregon to watch them fly!

Camera has got to go unless it's just for FPV or surveillance.

this is just the mount for fpv. the mount for the canon is much bigger. but attaches basically the same way.
