e-E-Sky Honey Bee- Lama- Belt CP- E-Smart > Help, Weird swash / cyclic movement

DX7, HBK2, 300HDX 3800rpm, CC25, CC10bec, HS65MG, GY401 w/s3145, stock woodies, bat wing tail blades, extreme 43t pulley.

When I give forward cyclic, with throttle midstick w/0 pitch, the main blades are leaning at 11 o'clock, instead of 12 o'clock. When I give reverse (backwards) cyclic, with throttle midstick w/0 pitch, the main blades are leaning at 5 o'clock, instead of 6 o'clock. I tried lifting off but it got too weird.

BTW, I just bought these HS65MG's from a guy used for $80. With throttle hold I see the swash moving in the proper directions. With the throttle at half throttle (baldes spinning) I see the swash not doing the proper movement forward and backward cyclic are 11 and 5 o'clock NOT 12 and 6 o'clock.

I used the swash leveler from helidirect. I got low-mid-high points leveled using subtrims for midstick and endpoint adjustments for low & High points. I did notice that a quick up/down motion on the blade pitch showed the right side servo (pitch) a little slower then the left(aileron), not by much, and decided it was from having the endpoints different all around.

I am open to suggestions on what to check, I feel I did everything right and the servos could be at fault. Im going to work, tonight I will see what anyone has suggested, but when I get home I will try swapping out the 3 HS65MGs for 3 brand new dynam 10ms servos.

Thanks in advance...

First, get all your endpoints and dual rates set the same, preferably 100%. Level the swash. Now, either engage throttle hold or unplug the motor. Move the throttle stick slllooowwwlllyyy all the way up and down. Observe the swash movement. Any leaning at all indicates a servo problem.

Do the usual checks - look for jumpy arm movement; move the arms manually and listen for clicks and feel for inconsistent spots...

Somebody might've dumped his problem on you.

Pumping your fist and yelling, "COME ON!!!" does not increase battery charge rate.

You know it could be just a deal of playing with the swash settings. You did replace the servos from the original ones that you had the radio programmed for didn't you? These may just need a little tweak due to the CCPM interactions. You can check for this by the following method:

Place a bubble level on one blade (it doesn't matter which) and position the blade at paralel to the boom (straight down the centerline of the heli), now move the throttle up and down (idle up switch enabled, thottle hold ON). As you move the throttle up and down , you see the swash go through the whole pitch travel. Watch the level it should stay centered (relatively speaking) . If you see it deviate to the left or right of center then you play around with the swash numbers (A,E,P) so that as you travel through pitch you see no major shift in the rotor disc. Once you get the oreintation done, do again with the blades at 90. Once both orientations are done. Try it out.

It's worth looking at.

I setup the swash and my DX7, (also started a new model) using the following directions:

http://www.truebloodengineering.com...showpage&pid=10

I have found that the PITCH (right) servo was binding against the back of the elavator servo. I shimmed the ELEVATOR servo forward, to make 1mm of space. The servos are NOT touching now. Also, I am using Hitec HS65MG (bought used) on cyclic and this heli is a frame up build (brand new), BTW. I set pitch and and throttle and it's late but will try out the setup tomorrow afternoon about 4pm pst.

Thanks for advice! JC I will give your suggestion a try if this fails, which also means I need to get a level.

Hey wheelie,

if you go to a local ace or hardware store, look for whats called a "Line" or "String" level. The one I picked up not only fits on the flybar, but is within 3mm of being the correct distance for setting up the flybar paddle to the bell control arms.

Just a Thought

The cheapest way is to buy the 3 dollar bullet level from Home Depot, (its the 8 inch on made of plastic and has two or three smaller levels glued to it)removed these from the plastic fram, and viola!! You can attach these with servo tape to what ever you want to level or verify level there of.

Client cancelled and I am working on the HBK2 now. I have just used my digital caliper to measure the flyrod's center point and found it to be 4mm longer on one side. I fixed that and tested it on the floor. What I find I do not recall on my other helis (it's been 4 years since my last flight) is that at 0 pitch/82.5% throttle, that when forward cyclic is given the whole main balde tilts to 10 o'clock. Instead of 12 o'clock, but I am determined so I said f@ckit and just go for it. It's skitchin on the floor and tilting in a funny way, I think of the heli I just bought off toolman18 that will be here tomorrow( http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t441072p1/ ) and give more throttle and it's 1 foot of the floor. Little more and it's at waist level seems fairly stable now

Pretty stable, but has a sort of cocked lean to it (tilts to down to right). I test the cyclic and even though it seems off on the floor, it's perfect in the air. I'm in HH mode and it's nailed dead on. I've seen some of the videos of you guys in your houses and I have to say, I do not have much room at all. I am ready for the outdoors and am charging the batteries in anticipation.

I really notice the frame flexing when giving cyclic on the floor. I think I am going to order all the extreme frame components from helidirect in 2 weeks.

Thanks again for all your suggestions, I will get the level as suggested and add that to my final setup steps. But I think I am going to be pretty good at setup after all I have been through.
