Simple decision. Stratus now and the new one as it comes out. The new 90 may take a while.

If you wait, you'll be waiting a while. I'm sure the new model is close to a year away.

go with the stratus the new bird will take more than a year, as MA has ti ship out the 450 then the 50 size bird, plus MA will have a convertion kit for sure then you can convert

If you aint crashing you aint flyin

I doubt there will be a conversion for it. It's a whole deferent frame with no A ladder(as far as I saw from pictures). I could be wrong though, I hope!
BW stratus is the best heli so far.

Just do it.

There isn't a whole lot similar between a Fury and a Stratus either but they made that happen. Just means the conversion kit will cost a little more. Is the head and tail the same?

Edit.... Looking at the pictures in the other post the head, tail boom assy, tail box all look the same as the stratus/fury extreme line so the upgrade should easily be doable. Frames, bearing blocks, engine mounts, tank and some other stuff and call it a day. Of course pulling the canopy off could throw that idea completely out the window. I hope not though.

BUT what if this is only part 1 of the prototype? It's a prototype fellas so there's a chance other things could change before a release date is announced. New head, new tail, new tail boom......who knows? Best just to sit back and wait until the guys at MA are a lot closer to releasing the kit and at this point I think we're safe to say this new machine is a ways off.

Or..... They scrap the project because the stratus is "just that good". Who knows? I don't but it's the whole purpose about a forum... To talk about it and what could be. Not to sit back, not talk about anything and wait to see what comes out. Hell, you can only check the hobby shop sites so many days in a row for new stuff. From MA's past record they have had an upgrade kit for everything. You can take an old 50 and turn it into a BW Stratus, model by model up the chain to the present. That is one nice thing about MA. You don't need to buy an entire kit every time a new bird is released. If you decide to upgrade. Or you can continue to fly an older bird as the guys feel obligated to upgrade as a new heli comes out. Me personally.... I don't buy the latest and greatest... I stay one step behind. I buy your Fury when the Stratus and N9 were the new hot setups. CHEAP. Now the Aurora is out... I'll get either an N9 or Stratus.... CHEAP Then next year... Maybe an Aurora.... CHEAP. A year ago you couldn't find a Trex 600 and now you can't sell one. Same thing in the 90 arena.

Maybe I'll get the new bird from MA when it's released. Who knows. Until then. Lets talk, speculate and enjoy the hobby.

I think what they are trying to do with new heli is make something in a better price range to compete with the 700 and Aurora. It takes Minair a long time to bring out a new design,so dont expect it very soon.
I have a Stratus and it does fly good but part prices are not cheap.

I roll an Extreme so I know what you mean. The majority of the parts are the same. I roll the stratus head, open tail, carbon boom (until the next crash). That is where the majority of the money is. Same clutch assy, gear etc. Just a frame configuration for the most part. Price isn't that much more. Carbon frames is the main price difference. I don't really care about G10 though. It's good enough for what I do. I'm not sure what a BW stratus is going for but I would think they would be safe if they got their heli's down to like the 980 range. I have had a couple JR 90's too. I don't have that much brand loyalty to buy a $1300 heli when there is a frickin awesome competitor rolling around with the N9 and the Aurora at $300 savings. Just me though. That's why I buy the second best that was top of the line six months ago at half the price.

The Stratus, regardless of its big canopy, is light and a great flying 90 machine.

Raffy,

No doubt about the Stratus being an awesome heli. That is why I can't wait for all you guys to sell them.
