AltecLansing Key Veteran Location: Under the tire of a truck
| I hovered mine in rate mode first. I got it very close in set up with that. The drift it has in rate mode is very slight. When I had it in heading hold mode back when I first started with this gyro, it had a small drift. I could fly it like that with little issue. Back then, it was the severe bounce back. This is what happened. I would give it input to turn the nose to the left perhaps a quarter turn or a little less. Than I put the stick back to center. You can watch the tail. It would let me turn, then when I centered the rudder, the tail bounced back to where it was as if I never turned the heli. This is an intermittant problem. It doesn't matter which way I turn the heli. It can and will happen both ways. I turn down the gain, and it lessens, but then the tail is too loose to feel comfortable flying.
In rate mode, mechanically, I would say its 98 percent on. I don't consider that to be way out. I think any gyro should be able to handle rate mode being 98 percent on and then lock in on heading hold. Even my evo 50 isn't as locked in rate mode as this mini titan. Yet, it stays locked in in heading hold mode. I am sure the csm gyro is nice. I did like the csm 360 even though it took me a month to get it locked in. I just don't want to spend another month setting up this gyro. I'm done with it. I want simplicity. I would prefer to fly than to spend day after day and flight after flight trying to lock in this gyro. I am sure that someone with experience with these gyros could get me set up much quicker, but there is no one locally that can help me with that. After I fly my evo this afternoon, I will remove the csm gyro and install the 401 and put the csm up for sale. It has 6 flights with me and only a couple of flights with the previous owner. I have the box and two of the pads along with the directions.
Man, I miss the eighties. |
