Ok, I seem to get conflicting info On Magnum Fuel.
People say it is eating their bearings.. and there are people who have been flying on it successfully for a long time.

Can anyone give me some input on whether or not I should fly it in hyper?

I was just at our local field yesterday, burned a few tanks, and I was talking to a guy with a pilon plane.. (the thing does about 170mph) but anyway.. I mentioned magnum fuel to him, and he said no go.. it corrodes my bearings.. so he was another person (not in these forums) to say that Magnum eats bearings...

Please let me know what you think.. thanks

Should I fly it?

I second that. Magnum is top shelf fuel. I've had more problems with Morgan's eating bearings than I have had with Magnum. If you have any questions about Magnum fuel just call Buzz and ask them. You can get his # from the Magnum web site.

We have been ordering the fuel for over a year now. We order cases of that stuff and its great!

Good fuel for the $$$

However if you are using a OS engine then it will have bearing problems regardless.

Magnum 30% = Junk?
From a performance point of view, it is no different than Cool Power 30%. Back-to-back tanks between the two and I actually forgot I was running Magnum fuel. The engine rocks with this fuel, good and lean.

I agree with pilotCK, os engines seem to be hit or miss on bearings. Sometimes you get one that lasts a while and some only last a few gallons. And i only run coolpower 30%.

Lol, I've been using Mag fuel for 3 years now. Never had bearings probs at all. On one of my 90 engines, I let it sit for 6+ months, never ran the fuel out of it or used any after run oil. When I checked it before running, bearings were still smooth as they were 6 months prior and engine fired on second attempt.

i used Magnum 20 % fuel for a year and i got through a few rear bearings on my os they were always rusty.changed to standard wildcat which performs a little better but less smoke and oil but works good i have changed two bearings with it both had no rust at all just normal wear. coolpower is a exellent fuel but is expensive.

That's a pretty bad title if you haven't used the fuel. I have and I don't notice any difference between this and cool power. And Magnumn smells better too!

I'm actually tring to get another order going with them, they must be busy as they haven't answered my e-mails or phone calls. Crazy!!!

Vrwired,

It would be nice if you would change the title as it does not reflect the topic of this post.

Thanks!!

its named properly, he was asking a question, and as you see there is a question mark in the title. And the title seems to match the first post....

Ok.. I am thinking about maybe going by his shop, or also interested in maybe modifying car nitro for heli use (add oil) I posted about it in another thread..

But anyways.. I don't mean to offend any longtime users of Magnum.
So I changed the Subject just a bit. I would hate to put any bad vibes on a good fuel..

Realize though that my original subject was a question, not a factual statement about it being junk... And my post reflected the question and was on topic... but anyways.. I understand that it could have been seen incorrectly...

When people ask what kind of fuel I use, I just tell them I use "the stinky stuff"

Everyone who has ever been around Magnum knows what Im talking about.

Yes, Magnum stinks.

But, does the smoke burn your eyes like CP30 does?

The older I get, the shorter my attention....... Oh look. A shiny penny..

Magnum is about the smokiest fuel you will ever come across.
I get it all over my face, and then I do something stupid like licking my lips or something. Yeah, it tastes worse than it smells.

But since you brought it up, I can't say as I recall it ever burning my eyes. Never put too much thought into it really.

surley any 30% fuel will affect bearings but depends on how hard the engine is being run, ive had my 50 hyper for 2 years and not an issue using high nitro fuels.

dood i was sitting near yug when he drank that and you should of seen the look on some peoples faces

Magnum fuels works great, awesome power and no bearing problems for me (at least not this year.) The only time I had bearing problems was 2 years ago, and I used a different fuel then. Buzz is a great guy and a pleasure to deal with.
