thought that was for charging in align style charger as outrage uses TP plug. But I get confused which is which.

that crap is SO annoying, the manufacturers think they are making everyone brand loyal by each using a seperate balance plug....but everyone just makes adaptors,so its pointless, they need to agree on a balance plug and stick with it.total waste of time and money for everyone.....thats actually another reason I'm hesitant to try this pack or that pack, because then you have to buy an adaptor to go with it,and if the battery sucks its just throwing money away.Their stupid little idea of trying to be individual is actually keeping me from trying various batteries

Wow, offline for a day and see what happens! I am really feel'n the 450 love. Sorry, got sucked into something at work and didn't even have time for quick peak over here. Lets see, some questions and answers:

1) No I haven't bought a new heli. Budget wise, it will be late August at the earliest.

2) I'm on the fence about the Outrage looks. I don't like that it uses CF landing gear. But then if I can't set it down gently, then I shouldn't fly it The canopy is different. No window for the pilot. Why do we need that anyway? By the way, have you seen the Fury 450 canopy? I like the heli, but the canopy looks like its from the 70s!

3) Will I get a Trex, Mini, or Belt? No offensive, but probably not. I've gone the plastic route and though I'm SURE, Align and Thunder Tiger plastic is better than Esky, I know its just not for me. Although I cherish the path the HBK2 has taken me on, with my next heli I want to start out with stuff I want from the get go.

4) Outrage power system. Yes, unconventional and controversial. Reports are 8-10 minutes of hard 3d with a 6S 1300 and no fade. More voltage, less current. Everything stays cooler. Longer battery life, and easier on the ESC and motor. The higher voltage, lower current made a lot of sense to me. I don't like my electronics to be warm.

5) Outrage node connectors - comes with Thunder Power connectors and includes an adapter for Align. I already had the Cellpro Align adapter but went ahead and bought the TP/PowerQuest adapter as well. I can use either. Its less of a hassle than I thought it would be. Although I'm seriously considering locating some of my own node plugs and making my own adapters. I'm surprised that's not more common.

I'm wondering if you couldn't gear a furion or a beam to run 6s? Or any 450 for that matter. I would like to see a G5 for myself. I know the beam is just plain awesome, and the trex v2 is no slacker either. I have not seen the final version of the MA furion, but what I did see in march was a real nice heli. Very similar to the beam in the frame and drivetrain, only the head, and tail looked even better.

The Outrage folks say that they have tuned the heli to run at a lower headspeed and provide the same if not better performance than a higher headspeed 450. I'm not sure if this was simply done with larger blades (350mm) or there is more too it, that could be part of the power system change. But I suspect if the Outrage power system seems to work well, I'd expect to see alot of 3S 450 owners trying it. For where most of use are at, there's no need.

Greg if you want a "different" heli, you need one of these

http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t441550p1/

The more I look at them, the more I really like them. They have a fully belt driven drive system in a plastic frame with adjustable servo mounts and a nice layout. Kind of reminds me of a Logo frame. For $369 with motor, I think it is a great deal. Anyhow maybe someday I will step up to a 500 class heli and maybe this will be the one.

Tell you what I do know. I run the Outrage 3S 200 packs in my Rex's (and HBK for that matter) and THEY ARE THE BEST BATTERY THAT I HAVE EVER USED!!! Guess that's why they can't keep them in stock. They have the general dims and weight of the Kong packs, but not the cost. My advice to all... BUY SOME!!!!

Man I gotta stop looking at the classifieds or I am going to have to mortgage the cat ... wonder what she is worth? ... anyhow there is a Protos with motor and (4) 9650s on it for $430. WOW that got me thinking ... but I don't need another heli and especially not a 500 right now ... WOW that is tempting ... but ah too bad it looks like it is sold already ... whew, that was close ...
