e-E-Sky Honey Bee- Lama- Belt CP- E-Smart > Xtreme Carbon Frame - Update.

I wanted to post a short update following the Xtreme Carbon Fiber frame installation last week as I have now had a chance to put quite a few packs through it.

I am afraid I cannot give the science behind it but unless my setup skills improved 50% and my Flying Skills by 20% overnight, the carbon frame has had a marked improvement on the handling, stability, flight times and overall smoothness of the heli.
I had been fighting a vertical fin vibration on the HBK2 forever, I ended up balancing the whole head to +/- 0.1 gram and it was still there slightly. Since the CF frame there is no vibration at all.

I have found 1 dislike on the frame, actually the hardware and not the frame itself. The pins that hold the canopy are 2mm too short and the small diameter where the rubber grommet goes is also too short, the canopy can pop off one side in flight and in my case the motor touched it and wore through it. It's an easy fix to add a spacer to bring the pins out by 2mm

Overall I am 100% happy that I made this conversion. Yes it is expensive at $69 but I feel it was definitely worth it.

Thanks for the update. Maybe there is something to this Trex mentality

One other thing I meant to follow up on. The battery in the original pics seemed to be tilting forward. How much shorter is the battery tray, compared the stock piece? Has this turned out to be much of a problem?

Tail vibes, gottem. Just learned to live with them. Perhaps I've found a solution

Hi Greg,

The battery try isn't actually any shorter than the standard tray, Both the standard tray and the new Xtreme CF frame trays are a little short for the 2100 mAh batteries. Same as my Trex. I wish they had made it longer. The battery in the photo is licked up at the back because I have a double layer of Velcro there to ensure the battery does not lift up into the pinion I could add another strip of Velcro at the front to level up the battery. You can also see the way I have a Velcro strap holding the battery in and this adds to the angled appearance. Believe me the battery is in there and well attached, it cannot move a mm.
I added a shelf extension to my rex, I may do the same to the HBK2, but for now it is fine.

Thanks Stocky. The reasons not to get the frame just keep melting away! Too bad its not in stock.
