| Well had a crash saturday and I never even got off the ground when it happened. I did my preflight as I normally do, but didn't catch the problem before I spooled her up and the bird went hard to the left as it got light on the skids. I flipped the throttle hold and waited for the head to settle, moved the linkages and one fell off (I had loosened it up to much during a recent maintence check) so I shut the bird down. No problem went to the box pulled out a spare measured it and snapped it on. Started and spun her up again, same thing, but I wasn't fast enough this time on the throttle hold and it went over on it's side, CRAP!! It took out both seesaw arms and snapped a ball stud off the swash plate, DOUBLE CRAP!! Well to make a long story short the whole mess was my own fault as I was setting another heli up on a different radio earlier in the week which uses the same swashplate setup as the Pantera. I had used my 1st radio as a reference as to how the servos were setup, I changed the reverse of the pitch servo in the wrong radio!! DUH!!! I also bent the main shaft and broke one of my composite blades. I ve got her almost put back together except for the main shaft which I will get on monday but won't install it till all measurements are pulled off it for the making of a 440c stainless steel replacement shaft. I am done with the stock shafts as they are just too soft for my liking. I also went with the aluminum seesaws and swashplate( had them set aside for my gasser Pantera project). I guess I will now add checking servo direction to my preflight from now on.

I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was going to blame you! |
