I have been using the 401 on my helis but now have steped up to a 90 size and I have the gain up 100 % but the tail still searches a little. Also what if running the 9253 servo to 6 volts would that make it better? Futaba says that the serrvo runs in 4.8 volts.
What does a 611 do better than a 401?

Try a longer servo arm, maybe??

I used a 401 on a Rappy 90SE for awhile. Worked remarkabley well,
even in FBF, constant reverse loops, and inverted reverse flight.

The piro consistency in more demanding manuevours is really were the 401 falls short

It will improve your cyclic/flight management as you do have to be a
little smoother then say a 601 or Spartan etc.

Don't run the 9253 on 6v, it will fry.

The 611 has more holding and has a faster response . 401 will hold 100 % seems high you will get some give on holding because of torque of motor , just dont run gain too high it will burn up servo put a step down on servo if running a 6v system

I dont know how to fly just how to not crash !!!!!

A few years ago I had a 401 and 9253 on a Tempest 3D which flew fine and held fine.Did backwards loops and rolls, flips with it no problem and held the tail rock steady.

It sounds like you may not have enough gain.Double check your radio set up. If you can get 100% gain which is highly unusual then it may be that radio is not giving out 100% atv on the gain channel for whatever reason.I know the FF9/FF8 can be misleading if using the gain channel function which can make you think you are giving %100 when in fact you are giving 50%.

A way to check this is to plug a servo into the gain channel to check when you flick between heading hold and normal and you should see the servo travel to is full extent.

Then I would look at the servo arm length.Upping the servo arm length ups the mechanical gain. The further from the centre the arm is the faster the transition speed.

Hope this help

The gyro model has nothing to do with the size of the helicopter, but it has everything to do with the skill of the pilot.

My guess is that if you have to ask, then the 401 is good enough for you. At least for a while...

What Rafael23cc said. 401 is fine.
Will work better when you have 15-18mm servo arm, gain about 60%, limit at 100 and still able to just get full tail pitch travel.

I still run a GY401 on one of my Predator MAXs. The gyro is simple to use, a real no brainer.

I have a 401 on my Raptor90 and it seems to work real good so far.
Travel pot on the gyro is at 100%, my servo arm isnt very long but I still get full travel with out binding. Gain is at about 68%, ATV 100%(not that this matters on the tail holding capability) 105mm tail blades.
I did have some problems at first but there was some friction in the linkage and some slop at the tail. Once i worked both of these out it seems to fly great.

Me fly fast.......Me crash hard.....Me buy parts...Start over

Thanks for the replys! My atvs are all 100 and everything is 100 and centered. It is weird as I have three helis flying the 401 and this one 90 size MA wants 100% gain. I am fighting a slight fibration in the mechanics right now so maybe that has something to do with it.

If you need 100% gain , go to a bigger servo arm . you should then be able to get her wagging and need to turn her down.
