Radio - Servo - Gyro - Gov - Batt > Arizona Pin Switch failed while connected by mistake to the charging jack of the Arizona.

Hello guys,

Today by mistake, while I was installing my ragio gear on my new Vibe 90, by mistake, instead of connecting the pin switch to the right jack, I connected it to the charging Jack. The battery smoked but I disconnected it immediately. Of course the battery was damaged. Then I tested the arizona regulator with another battery, without the pin switch and everything was working fine, the DCUP was on 5.9 volts and the voltage indication on GY611 was 4.9. Then I connected the pin switch to the right jack and it was not working.

Is there any possibility to have my regulator damaged? Or it's is just the pin switch that was damaged?

Anyone made the same mistake?

Cheers

Putting the pin switch on the charge jack tried to dump the battery through it, and did *not* put any power through the regulator (the charge jack goes directly to the battery . . .) so:

a) You reg is fine - it didn't see the mishap.

b) That much current buggered the contacts in the pinswitch - it's dead and needs to be replaced.

Easiest thing is to charge the battery directly, or via it's balance taps. You shouldn't have the reg plugged in unless you are at the field anyhow . . . . use the tap for what it was intended for primarily - voltage testing, and charge via the Deans (if that's what you have) or whatever . . .

The mistake was made due to the fact I was installing my gear onto my new Vibe 90. Unfortunately the yellow mark on the Arizona's JR charging jack is deleted. That's the reason I made the mistake.
Usually, I charge directly through the deans connector and I connect during preflight check.

Thanks mate

After about 10 flights my Arizona pin switch failed. It must have been the effects of vibrations. while the pin is inserted it lets current through.
I don`t trust them anymore. I whent back to a regular old fasion switch.

They must have changed things at some point. On my Arizona's, there are not "marks" - the entire connector body is solid color. So, the pinswitch connector and the matching reg connector are both, IIRC, solid yellow. Unless you need to use an extension, seems pretty hard to miss. Apparently, yours is different . . . . interesting . . . .

Guys today I've replaced the damaged pin switch with a new one. Unfortunately, even the new pin switch is not effective. Consequently, I assess that what happened, had been very harmful for the Arizona.
Although, the Arizona seems to work fine, the capability of the electronic circuit, related with the fail safe switch, should had been damaged.

I have sent an email to Fromeco.org, as well.
