I'm wondering how everyone is liking the Futaba 12Z FASST? Has anyone used the JR 12X and could offer a comparison? Likes and dislikes? I'm trying to choose between the the Futaba 12Z FASST and the JR 12X and it's a tough decision. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I'm loving the 12z, no regrets. I have not had the chance to fly with a 12X. I did fly a buddies 9ch Jr and it was as nice as the 9c I had previously.

I don't want to start any wars, but I was told the 12z is a bit more capable, but the 12x is more user friendly. Like I said, I've not held a 12x so this is just what I was told.

I do like the fact that the radio's software can be updated by a simple download from Futaba. I just did my first software up date and it was pretty cool to add new functions.

My impressions are that BOTH are great radios.

Ergonomic-wise, the 12x is amazing. The magnesium case is top notch, stick feel is excellent, and overall switch positioning and feel is perfect.

The 12Z and 12FG (I just switched from 9ZWC2 to a 12FG) have great feeling gimbals, and overall switch layout is very good. The case feels like sport transmitter on both the 12Z and 12FG when compared to the 12X. Being a Futaba guy for many years, I prefer the Futaba 12 series programming to the 12X, and I like the fact that it can be upgraded and all that. But when spending 1100-1500 on a transmitter, I want something that does not feel like a lower end plastic transmitter.

What I want is the case of a 12X and a Futaba internal set

Ok,
after spending a few hours twiddling with the 12FG tonight getting ready to convert my helis over, the only area I could even begin to consider a minus is the plastic case. This thing has all the power of my 9ZWC2 without requiring a PHD in Futaba to program. I love it so far.
I will be converting all 5 Raptors from 9Z on 72mhz PCM to 12FG on 2.4 and R608FS receivers this weekend.

I have the 12Z love it. I have two 9ZAP's and this is by far easier to program and has a better feel. I am use to the Futaba programing, it is very intuitive. The one thing I can say is that I felt like it was twitchy however it was the response was faster and I wasn't use to it.

I recently moved from a JR 9303 Spektrum to the Futaba 12Z FASST. I can not be more happy. The FASST system feels so much more connected but also very smooth at the same time. The TX and RX bind almost instantly every time, Spektrum would take forever to bind and sometimes not at all. The 12Z feels amazing in the hands and the gimballs are the best I've felt to date.

My JR and all the Spektrum gear will be sold in the next couple weeks and I won't be looking back...
