Hi

Does anybody uses a mini servo as throttle servo, to save weight?
I have seen somewhere (i forgot where) that you can bay a adatorplate for Mini servi - to fit normale servo holes....

Futaba 9650 = 26 gram
Fuatab 9257 = 26 gram
Futaba 3150 = 22 gram
Futaba 9552 = 51 gram

Hitec 65HB = 11,2 gram (23,6x11,6x24mm)
Hitec 65MG = 11,9 gram
Hitec 81 = 17,0 gram (29,8x12x29,60mm)

Why not use a micro servo? Can they not take the vibes?

I also use HS81s in my glow helis. Great throttle servos.

g-force makes a very nice plate to fit the hs-65. no one has them in stock yet but you can get it direct from their site.

Align makes a plate that reduces the size of the servo hole for the 600N, I've used them on other helis as well.

If you know a machinist you can have them mill some simple adapters out of delrin (my solution)

On helis with servo pockets (Raptors), you can tape the servo to the side of the servo opening with double sided foam tape. I used to do this.

It's also easy to cut adapters out of lite ply, just don't let anyone see it at the field.

what's the weight of the servo adapter? if you have to add an adapter to the servo, that will defeat the purpose. I don't think the deference in weight worth all that effort IMO.

Just do it.

I think the G-force adapter is rated at 3 grams. This coupled with a 10 gram servo is worth it IMO.

forget the weight. $16 adapter + $25 servo..sure beats the crazy overkill servos you see people put on throttle recently. 9252,9452,9254,8717 all overkill for throttle by a long shot.

Yeah. You could probably even convince MA to cut a CF plate for you if you sent a CAD drawing. At least it wouldn't hurt to ask.

The cost is exactly why I use an HS81. $25 total invested for a throttle servo that works as well as a $100 one. The weight savings are insignificant.

Rotorworkz makes an adapter for the 9650. I got mine through Esprit Model.
