Well I have flip flopped on my thinking a half dozen times. If you have had experince with both the 600n and the 600e please share your thoughts with me. I have built a 450 and 500 but never a nitro. I love the plug and play of the electrics, but it just feels like anything bigger should be nitro so I am confused. I have experience with nitro engines from planes. Thanks for your input, Rick

Nitro is awesome power all the way through the flight and it gets lighter as it goes! Just something about the nitro, the smoke, the grime, the sound of the motor! But the cleanup and setup with nitro is increased 3 or 4 fold. You may drive all the way to the field and find out you need a glow plug and can't even fly it. If you are like me you will love this part of it too.

You already know the electric side you have a 450 and 500. There's no difference you charge your packs at home, drop it on the dirt and take off. You can get away with flying a 600e in places you won't with the 600n. This has huge advantages for anyone with enough money to buy 4 to 8 large packs. Of course if you buy a nitro the 450 you probably won't fly anymore and the 500 will be a second choice. Just something about the nitro...

P.S. 30% nitro is hard to get right now until the end of August.

I have both also , for fun nothing beats the N but for the quick after work flight etc and smooth reliable running then the E's the one.

I agree, if you can afford the big lipo's, then get 4-6 and have a good day.
But this is the reason why I have a nitro, longer flight time spent at the field.
Plus, I like the smell, and sound of nitro. Something about the sweet noxious gas that makes me tingle. LOL

A good day????......... is not crashing :)

Definitely, 600E is great for a 'get out and fly' day.

Just waiting for a cable for my charger, then I will finally be able to take out my 600E. Can't wait!

For me, it depends on what time I have. Not much time, then E, a afternoon, then its the nitro.

Both are great!!!
What I mean is, T-rex is a great heli, E or N.

A good day????......... is not crashing :)

The thing that made my decision to get the electric 600 was mess and clean up. I like messing around with them in the basement and the smell and my wife would not get along. If you can get over the price of the lipos, than you will like the 600e.

Got to have my cup of heli in the morning.

Pay me now, pay me later, you will pay. If you fly a lot the entry fee on batterys comes around assuming you look after them. With Nitro going up the battery scene gets cheaper in relation to the cost of fuel. I went from nitro to E and do fly a lot. I love the plug and play, no noise, no mess, no tuning problems, no lugging spare parts around. I was nitro for 30+ years, the big E is in to stay.

Um, yes. It is becoming scarcer however due to a range of factors. That is pushing the price up but it will begin to ease again around October.

I can handle the battery cost okay, and think I will go with the 600e. I have five for my 500 and that works great. I think I would like to stay 6s with the battery. I have been looking at the lipos all morning. What a jungle! What kind of flight times are you getting for just sport flying with the 6s 5000. I did see Common Sense has a 6s 6000 for the 600e also. My other questions is GF frame or CF frame difference. Weight is not enough for me to care about, nor is the replacment cost. Flex is. Anybody have any experience with that? The cost is about 70 bucks difference in the kit.

The responses will most likely be a 50/50 mix. They both have ups and downs. I only like to setup and trim one time per build. I choose 600E. The cost of lipos can get crazy. Nitro is pricy too. Due to olympics going on nitro exports to the US have siezed. This is the case excpecially on 30% from certain fuel manu... etc. The cost of nitro has gone up about 15-25% in the last few months. You will soon see it in the end user cost.

I hope this is only temporary, but who knows.

As far as lipo cost. I think in order to have a enjoyable flight session you need at least 3 lipos. Then again thats only about 15 mins in the air. 6-8 lipos would be killer day.

Whyfly,

What battery / motor / esc, setup are you using on your 8s 600e?

Thanks, Rick
