they crash better also

You don't have the flybar twisted around the main shaft with all those parts that break.

Also, less interaction,
Infinite control adjustment to your liking.
ridiculously locked in to the point where you can make any helicopter feel like a 90 size. My friend flies a rave 450 and he flies it like a 90 size.

Con's-
Cost - not really if you are considering buying a 90. You can make any helicopter feel and fly the same stable way with this technology. I have sold my 90 since going flybarless because I can't imagine any larger size helicopter feeling more stable during 3d then my logo 600.

Still a few bugs here and there.
Knowledge - Lots to learn.

I love these things!!!

with all of the benifits of going flybarless, why don't the manufacturers just make them like that in the first place? it seems like the companies are wasting time and money doing otherwise.

Developing new technology

It's a relatively new technology in this hobby. It's been around for a while but the technology never took off until just recently. Thank Mikado and CSM for that one. But I do believe vendors are starting to come out with more and more systems and helicopter manufacturers are considering heads that can accomidate both. It's a very easy mod to go flybarless. Almost all helicopters can be converted easily. It's almost impossible to go back if you design a head without a flybar.

I love these things!!!

There is one advantage:
If your gyro is on top like in TRex450 size heli, when crash, your flybar/paddles will not hit the gyro

Can you post which system your friends 450 is running. Any pics available, I think the only one I have seen is Alvin Chai's SK360 setup on a 450.

Thanks!

there are 2 more advantages.

1. you can lay the heli down on its side with the blades out and not worry about bending a flybar

2. flybars are for pussies....lol

Man being able to put the heli on its side to make adjustments is pretty useful

I like it because it makes the mechanically really easy to work on and there is less stuff to break.

Oh and not to mention its flys really good

It's the VBAR system

No pictures, not mine to take pictures of. The Rave is not released yet.

But trust me it is awsome. That helicopter on 4s comes in lighter than a helicopter on 3s and it has a torque tube.

I love these things!!!

A flybar is a mechanical gyro.

Your heli will fly without one, try it.. (at your own risk)

Or you can look for some video's of people flying without flybars or electronics. Difficult, but very possible.

Now, add some electronic wizardry and waa-laa you have a heli that is as stable as it's flybar'd counterpart.

Adding another 300+ dollars to the overall rigging cost of a heli is a huge hurdle for most. Since manufactuers are going for mass appeal, only a few smaller companies will take the risk to offer a dedicated flybarless kit or even a flybarless head. Flybars, and the damage they create, are a good source of revenue for manufacturers, so they will be reluctant to give it up.

For now the early adopters, myself and others, are willing to pay the price to advance this great technology and the companies that are supporting it.

In the end if you invest in flybarless technology and stick with the hobby, you'll get most, if not all of your money back in parts, extra flying time and less time on the bench.

Ink, Every time I hear your "Flybars are for Pussies" line, I laugh my ass off!!! Im loving my Vbar now that I'm getting used to it. Everybody in here is right about the advantages but nobody listed the one disadvantage; YOU WILL WANT A FLYBARLESS SYSTEM ON EVERY HELI YOU OWN!!!

Fly, Fly, and Fly some more!!!

All my TRexes and one Mini-Titan are in flybarless or multibladed.
But mine (due to cost reason), I use DIY version.

Hi Zaaaguy72

For 3D,
For avoinics, those commercial version like VStabi, CSM and the rest that I can't remember the name should be good. It allow u to tweak the settings to mimic more like a normal flybar and even better.

For the mechanical, to DIY, the easiest u can do is just reuse back your existing rotor head. It can easily done. Just search around and u should find a lot of example. The swash plate follower u can also DIY it either from scratch or reuse back your existing washout slider and the linkages. U can also purchase commercial version that normally use in multibladed head as well.
