About 5 months ago there was discussion that the ds650 was on its way, well its almost July and no updates on Spartanrc.com, or anywhere.

The ds650 would be an awesome alternative to the ds760.

Common Spartan start making more ds760 and get crackin on the ds650!!!! Theres alot of people waiting for them.

What's going on here? Any updates? Is this project still alive or dead?

They must have went on vacation and never came back. Im still think about trying out the spartan copy PG800 for only $140. I heard it will even accepts Spartans firmware. Spartan must have already made all they money they ever wanted and dont need to sell to us anymore.

sid, if you buy a copy and when it fails we won't jump on the i told ye so bandwagon (if you want to see why i'm saying that i suggest you do some looking over on HF for the internal pictures) also note it will not work with all spartan firmware so it is not very future proof if they hope to steal others work. this hobby is small enough and i won't fill the pockets of those who try to steal from others.

as for vacation, i can vouch for this being untrue. another huge batch is in production now and also some new toys for the masses

cheers

He does mean that a huge batch of ds760's is in production.

I assure you, Angelos is not one to go on vacation and never come back. Even being at IRCHA this year, he was still working pretty hard. We spent quite some time talking about a Cyclic Managment System for the spring. All the while, his partner John is still in the UK working on production. The reasons for delay of the ds650 are valid and I'm sure they will make it available just as soon a practical.

raptorheli2, dont get your panties in a bunch. I was just stateing since there is hardly ever an availability of ds760's for sale anywere for months at a time then I will just buy an alternitive (SJGD PG-800 gyro). I need 4 more gyros and by the rate of availability with past experiences of the DS760 I will be waiting years. There are only 2 reasons I can think of for no stock, A: Spartan is haveing some sort of problem somewere in the production, or B: Spartan is trying the "exclusive" marketing. I realy dont know wich one it is but I need to fly and just cant wait for them any longer. I want to try the SJGD PG-800 gyro because I heard good things about it.

sid, spartan want gyros out just as quickly as you and me want them, of that you can be assured. they are not trying to be exclusive but they are not the size of futaba who can pump out thousands a day.

on a slight twist, perhaps if companies didn't copy their equipment then they would also be in a position long term to do similar?

a VERY large batch of gyros is in production right now. that said if you were desperate for them then they are available now in various places (realraptors have stock right now) and i'm sure mark will have some on the way soon if not already for local catchment.

with the above said this is a buyers market for sure. if you want to get the 800 then please take the time to read up on the product quality and check some of the pictures out over on HF. also it will not work with all spartan updates so you won't get some servo support, bumpless rebooting, error logging etc etc. if you still think you want the 800 then thats fine, it is afterall your money.

my money won't allow me to buy into other people who blatantly rip off small companies trying to better this hobby.

cheers

If you're determined to by something else, buy a legitimate gyro. Solid-g, Futaba, Logitech, JR...just don't support theft. If you don't support the companies developing new products for us, who will want to dump their time/money into R & D. Guys like those at Spartan are just as capable of taking thier skills to another market where they won't be ripped off. Let's not let that happen. Support those that are helping us with quality and innovation for this hobby, no matter what the brand.

I agree. Wouldn't trust a clone brand. Wait for Spartan or buy Solid G. Best gyros out there.

I wasn't aware this is an EXACT carbon copy. Has this been confirmed 100% and who actually did the research (non bias). They didn't look exactly the same. I wasn't aware the firmware was the exact same either, just upgradeable. There are laws against pirating in Hong Kong and china. SJGD is not selling these on the black market as copies, they are a legitimate business with public advertising which would make this a somewhat easy case to stop them if they are actual carbon copies.

Copyright enforcement takes time; particularly in China. From what I have seen and heard SJGD does not have much future ahead of them. All reputable forums have deleted SJGD's advertising messages and no shops want to be involved in selling this illegal product in any western country.

I lived in China for almost 2 years and while I was there they had a huge crack down against pirating and new laws were established and enforced. The thing is SJGD is publicly advertising and selling these. If I was spartan I would follow the process to stop them.

I'd say it's a safe bet that it's a rebadged PG-800 and it's being displayed on a cloned heli...doesn't lend much credibility to the company, now does it.

I did come across the testing of the Trex 500 clone and it was using this gyro and found it interesting on how well it performed. But the funny thing is why no one is bashing these companies for cloning the Trex 450 and now the 500. I never hear anyone bashing these companies strictly because of the copying issue. Maybe Im missing something here and then again maybe not.

Another funny thing is with this new G-Lock gyro, The 2 people on here havent heard or seen this gyro in detail and automatically already start bashing and said its a re bagged PG-800. How the heck do you know yet. Maybe it is and maybe it isnt but why start judgeing something that you dont know. No one said it is a clone or carbon copy. By doing this you are showing your alternitive and bias interests in this topic. Its just as bad to start bashing something that is not known yet because someone says it works just as good as the spartan then it is copying something. I totally agree that cloneing and copying things are down rite wrong and dont support it but come on. These actions makes me wonder if the PG-800 is realy a "carbon copy" and what was said about it even true. I just want to hear honest facts, not alternitive motives.
