I was going to put an Align 2-in-1 combined with a Spektrum regulator into my vibe, but I was thinking of just using the 2-in-1 for my raptor 30 v2 I have coming as it seemed better suited and just biting the bullet and laying out the cash for this piece. Looks very cool and a clean solution for my 8717 servos. Any thoughts / opinions from anyone?

Why not go with the new spectrum receiver?

Oh, the all in one type rx? Good Idea, I forgot to look into that. I forget what it is called, but I am looking at spending 130.00 and the RX I was going to use is new and is about 160.00, so I think the rx/reg you are referring to is about 200, so interesting. I would rather fly around with 200.00 worth of electronics than 300.00 and less weight I assume. Thanks. I'm still giving the reactor some serious consideration.

no the ar7100 is cheaper and lighter, then running r921rx and a reactor-x

Yes, that is what I was saying, 200 for 7100r compared to 300 for the reactor and 9000 rx I have. Interesting, Also a rev lim, that could also replace the gv-1 I was going to use. Am I understanding that right? I am downloading a video of it right now. That would be like eliminating almost 500.00 worth of electronics and a lot of weight.

yes the ar7100r is a rev limiter also

You can get it with or without the rev limiter and you have to run 8 volts on the cyclic's, there's no option to run different voltages.

WOW ~almost a no brainer for me! -I just watched a video and it does exactly what I was hoping. All for only 200.00. I have 8717 servos, so why not run them for what they are designed for. Awesome. Thanks everyone.

i think those would have been better if they had like a switch to choose 8v or 6.8v or even 6volts. but they dont so its only a 8v setup

Yep, since I don't have 8717's that counts me out at least for now.

I wonder how long my 9451's would last on 8 volts?

I have the Reactor X in my heli with 8717s on the cyclic. It performs well and I know that I am not overdriving the servos with 6.8V. Jr does not recommend running the 8717s directly off a 2 cell Lipo. See the note here:

http://www.macgregor.co.uk/Homepage/0608news_6.htm

The other concern is what type of switch to use with a direct Lipo connection. I have the AR9000 receiver so I can't connect the battery in the same way as the new Spektrum RX with failsafe.

Nice thing about running the reactor and reactor X is that you distribute the load over 3 servo leads unlike the direct 8 volt set-up when you step down the 16 gauge battery lead to a small servo wire plugged into the battery port.

Seems a bit sketchy running so much current through such a small gauge wire. This of course is not the case with the AR7100 which seems an interesting alternative.

One thing also that the creator of the Reactor X told a friend of mine is that you get a more consistent current draw (6.8 volts) then running 8 volts directly. As the battery voltage drops the speed of the servos drop also.

I have run both 8 volts and the Reactor X on my vibe but I'm sticking with the Reactor X as the extra speed really does not make a whole lot of difference. For that matter I am running my 8717's at 6 volts which is plenty fast for me and the servo's should last much longer and frankly much happier.

Cheers,

John

i agree after the first flight on 8v direct your voltage drops lower and lower each flight,so your not getting a full 8v each flight unless you recharge every flight kind of a waste of time imo.

1) AR7100 and AR7100R have a high current input, so you aren't trying to push a lot of current through servo leads.

2) You aren't limited to 8 volts, you can add pretty much any high current regulator between pack and Rx. Spektrum has a 6 volt, 10 amp regulator designed for this setup. http://www.spektrumrc.com/Products/...rodID=SPMVR6010

I have that regulator. It has some limitations like weight though.
