Pics this evening

Hi Guys,
Here's the story with the heli. My wife was diagnosed with cancer 10 months ago and she passed a month back. I had been with her 24 7 in the hospitals for 9 months so when she passed away I was lost... So thanks to the hobby I was able to keep busy and not go nuts and the heli is the end product, of not being able to sleep for 4 weeks.

Here's a rundown on the terminator...

Almost all carbon fiber
Spektrum rec.
Lipo batt.
2 in 1 reg.
Futaba & Hitec servos
502 gyro
TJ Pro
OS 50 & MP2
610mm Blades
102 Tail Blades
Lots and Lots of mods

I have been flying with the kinetic canopy but soon as I get the clear coat on the 620 canopy it will go on. The first pic is what the canopy will look like...

Wow
Thats the kind of Heli I would love to own

If Century made kits like that, they would have problems keeping up with demand.

That is one fantastic looking Heli !!!!

Where did you get the open tail gear box? Will that fit on a Raven or Hawk?

If it doesn't fly sell it!

that's a Predator's Tail Gear Box there, as well as the horizontal fin mount, so it looks to be a larger diameter boom,,

I don't know how he did it, but I'm wondering if all he did was slide a larger tube over the stock Raven's boom (with a little glue) ????

truly sorry about your wife !!!!!

Hi

OK, it is a predator gearbox in a kinetics boom.
You have to expand the boom 1mm in for 30mm.
Go get a 1/2in craftsman deep socket. Get the boom hot.
The first part of the socket fits in the boom perfect
the second half of the socket flanges out by 1mm
tap the socket into the boom for 30mm's. the first part of the socket
keeps the expansion the same. ( the first time I tried just tapping the gearbox in the boom it expanded one side ) DOT FORGET TO GREASE THE SOCKET. The next boom worked great but I had to cut the boom to get my socket back.....

That predator gearbox works so nice......
Super smooth and run the 102mm blades
makes the tail rock sold....

I put a soft aluminum ring under the horizontal fin mount...
Thanks,
Marc

P.S. Lots of mods but all worth it. I never thought that a 50 could fly
better than my MA heli's

So Hays, when you expand the boom under heat it doesn't cause undue stress and crack? I mean its the stock tail boom right? That thing is paper thin anyways, how does it stretch that much and not split?

If it doesn't fly sell it!

Hi,

Yes it cause undue stress to the material but once I seen the design
of the gearbox and clamp I had no problems doing it. Once you get the gearbox in the boom and the clamp on everything is stronger
because you now have pinched the boom (all the way around) between the clamp and gearbox... And I have put 2 gallon's through the heli and have been super hard on the tail and nothing has came undone or twisted or cracked... Not to say that's not going to happen but I don't think it will..
Thanks,
Marc

Wouldn't it just be simpler for Century just to make a metal gear box for the Hawk/Falcon/Raven line? They already have the metal head, tail blade grips etc., for these models.

Like Dilbeck mentioned, the material is already thin as it is and I for one, do not want to stress it any further.

The metal tail gearbox does give it a distinctive look Nice looking heli BTW.

Hi

That would be nice. All Century would have to do is machine the gearbox down by 1mm and make a smaller clamp...
Thanks,
Marc

a Metal Tail Gearbox for the Raven would be truly cool,,

but at $120 I don't think they would sell many for the Raven, maybe they would sell if they could come-up with something that sold for around $59 or $69,,

or maybe just modify the stock Raven's Plastic Gearbox to accommodate the Predators Bellcrank and longer Output Shaft for more tail power..
