Art-Tistic Senior Heliman Location: Somerset, NJ
| Hey All,
I finally took some time to post some pics of my little HB and the "nest" I built for her. No the box is not metal, it's made from 3/8" MDF that I got from an old skid top. The price was right. Also there are some pics to show the mods I've made and how I routed my electronics. The setup is very clean, easy to maintain and it flies like a dream. Hands off hover (indoors) for approx 10 secs. I'm very happy with the setup. One thing to note that you probably wont be able to tell from the pics is that my electronics where all mounted using hot glue. (I got this great tip form Helihobby's website. (thanks Sean!) The hot glue holds the servos close to the frame and extremely rigid, giving great cyclic control. If anyone is interested in more info on the exact mods I did please shoot me an email or PM. This is a great little machine and is priced right. Hell it flew very well right out of the box! I would even dare to say (given my nitro heli past) that this is a perfect heli for someone to learn on. Despite popular opinions, I feel that the low cost, durability, and the forgivingness in "new" modler's building skills makes this an excellent stepping stone into this challaging yet very rewarding hobby. Also the fears that accompany a 30 or larger nitro are almost non-existant with this micro electric. eg. cost of repairs in hard landings- min of $80 in most cases, the fear of personal injury or property damage can certainly keep a person from moving past a hover. Not that micro's shouldn't be taken seriously, they are not toys and can inflict injuries, but they are a lot less intimidating then the nitros.
Just some food for thought.....or My 2C's.
regards,
Anthony
