Blitz Helicopters Avro 90 > Tail gear question

Got 14 tanks thru my new Avro I must day I am very please with its performance very stabel yet very fast on roll. My set up was stabel setting. Upon my last flight of the day I notice I have a very excessive backlash at the bevel and crown gear so I reset the gear and now no backlash however I did notice I also have play at the tail gear which can move backward and forward more than 1 cm but there is no end float at it. I took it apart and found out that I do have a a fair amout of plastic dust from the tail gear which I am sure it shouldn't be like this. I don't know how did it happened? I have to add 2nd shim to the shaft and reduce the amount of play to the gear now around 1 cm or less. does anyone has this issue? I don't know what I did wrong to it.
Second issue, as I have stable setting the manual show to set the mixing arm at the middle hole ( 0 delta) however another manual supplement show the inner hole closest to the blade grip so which one do I follow?
Thanks

Dust in the tail box is not a good thing!

Shimming it so that it is smooth, without backlash is how it should be adjusted. If there is excessive wear on the gears, I would play it safe and replace them.

When you say that you can move it 1 cm, are you talking about holding the rotorhead and moving the tail rotor? When I inspect mine, I remove the red plug and insert a non-damaging (toothpick) tool inside to hold one of the gears stationary while I gently rotate the output shaft to check for backlash.

The supplement is an alternative set up to the 3D settings. The stable setting should be per the original manual, as I understand it.

the free play of 1 cm was measure at the tail blade tip when the bevel gear in front been hold in place. RyanW, what is your meaurement?
Thanks

Unfortunately that doesn't give you a measure of the backlash.

The 'play' that would add up to 1 cm would be through all of the couplings in the torque tube assembly and any backlash if present.

You need to be able to constrain one gear while move the other to accurately detect backlash. This would be similar to holding the pinion gear in the front and feeling the backlash by moving the crown gear.
