Hope you will start working on it, my be we are just a few in your busniness, but the Gasser helis, will be increase very soon and.....

You will find the 60/90 size Hughes 500 series fits very well.

If you go to the scale forum here on RR you will find a number of guys who have done so.

Yeah the gasser will fit if......I take off the reliable, quiet, and expensive V3 Muffler, the air cleaner has to go and may be shorter the boom, so main blades lesser than 710mm, I´m not happy with that.

Hope Century is reading this, just imagine the BIG, I mean BIG beautiful scale no less than 1,43mts

Gustavo

Predator Fuselages

I finished putting a gas predator into the FUNKEY hughes 500E fuselage. It worked fine but took some work. I didn not want to change the boomlength and the blade size so I changed the fuselage size. I fabricated a 3" extension on the tailboom using fiberglass molded around a candle then lightweight fiberglass filler to smooth it. I had to shim the bottom of the frame slightly and cut the rotorshaft opening larger.

check my gallery for the details.

When it was all done, the helicopter dimensions match the MD530F helicopter exactly. (this is the more powerful version of the MD500E)

I am quite happy with it EXCEPT the V2 muffler won't fit. I plan on putting in the zimmerman muffler (on the vario site). for now I am using a straight zenoah muffler with a soft copper pipe extending the exhaust.

MD530F

Thanks for the compliments and incase you are wondering, that hanger in the picture is the New York State Police aviation headquarters in Albany. The NYSP was very cooperative and gave me unhindered access. I got the paint codes for their helicopters and had PPG paint mixed with a 2 part clearcoat. The graphics were done with water-slide decal paper and a color laser. The N number is the same as the Bell 430 directly behind mine. That helo is known as "Lifeguard 12". They were thrilled with the result. (as was I).

I will post more pics of the build when I can.

Hi guys!
yes the gasser will fit some of the fuses out there one being the hughes 500. this fuse is very large and fits the gasser very well. yeah maybe it would be nice if there was a line of fuses especially fo rthe gasser's wider frames and longer boom than that of a std 60/90.
as for the muffler, keep in mind, it was not designed for fitiing in a fuse. the larger expansion chamber makes it quieter without any loss of power. for a long time, gassers only had the little muffler available with them. vario has a nice scale muffler for their gasser(benzine) that locates the muffler behind the frames and this works on the predator but it isnt the quietest one out there.
since the gasser's frames are wider, it makes fitting in a regular 60 a bit tighter. lose the aircleaner assembly and it is a little easier for some. as for fuses for a gasser, i look to the manufacturers with the bigger fuses like vario. i have a dauphin that wil be home to a pred gasser. lots of room even with the big muffler i believe. i have only heard of as gasser in century's 60 size jet ranger but never saw a pic to back that up.

Hi guys

I own a Predator SE with a Century 4-blade head and have been looking for a scale fuse as well. I spoke to one of the tech's at Century about a month ago and he assured me that I could fit my bird into the Huey or the Blackhawk with very little effort. Since I already fly the 4-blade head, the Blackhawk would be a nice fuse and is quite affordable for my first scale effort. I sure would like to keep my V3 muffler, but it sounds like that will have to be go. Any thoughts on how to start the thing once the pullstart is sacrificed? I've got a Hanger9 super starter right now(for my nitro 50) but I doubt that it would do the job on a gas engine.

Happy flying

Starter

- Starting the gas predator without the pull start is done with an electric starter and the shaft adapter. It plugs in directly in front of the rotorhead where there is a one way bearing. Mine starts almost instantly with the electric starter.

- How well does your predator fly on the 4 rotor head? Is it more or less stable? Do you use gyros for the fore/aft & left/right stability?

Well starting with a hex would be great if I didn't have a generator mounted there! And I love my generator so maybe it's decision time. It fly's pretty well with the 4-blade and only a Futaba 401. It's fairly stable I guess, but you sure have to work to fly it compared to a flybar head!! I'm still pretty new to heli's in general so I'm learning as I go.

Hey Copter Doctor. What kind of mechanic's do you have in that sweet blackhawk of your's(please say Predator!!). As I posted earlier I'm looking for a scale fuse for my gasser and Century told me that they'll fit in the Blackhawk. Is your fuselage from Century? I haven't seen any other blackhawk fuse's out there(except for the one Peter Wales is building, but I can't figure out where he got his from? Maybe he built it himself?)You've got some great pic's in your gallery and I will certainly be referring to them if I build a Blackhawk! Hopefully you don't mind!Happy flying everyone.
