Hey Guys !

I have been reading your posts for a while but i had nothing to contribute . I now have 21 flights on my Joker 2 and here is the report and specs coming from beginer ( i have blade 400 that i bought as my first heli 2 months ago).

Joker2 with CF ''Joker'' blades.
plettenberg HP 370 motor (Big Blue!) 16T pinion
Power Jazz speed control
3x Futaba 9252 on cyclic
futaba GY401/9254 on the tail
Futaba 149dp pcm rx powered by a 1900 nicad pack

I also have 2*5s5000 mah TP and 2*6s5000 mah TP batteries

I get 9 minutes of flying at 60% throtle and 7:30 minutes at %90 with 5s5000mah. 6s5000mah give a lot more pop and less flying time
about 6 minutes at %90 idle up.
I intend to use heli for AP and fun
I just got Canon XSI and Airfoil PRO1 is next

Cheers!

VV

PS : what should throtle curve be set at for AP? best batteries for longest flight time? THANX!

From Gerd regarding lubing!

I emailed Gerd regarding lubing and he responded the same day!
That guy is great and his service is the best around!
So for the other newbies like me:

"you must clean from time to time the tailrotorshaft from the oily dust and add a drop of new oil in the slider that it does not seize on the shaft.

The O-Rings on the head must be lubricated after each crash or about 2 times a year.

No lubrication else.

After 100 flights you should check the ball links. If you can remove it easy it is really time to change.

Tailbelt you should always check for weak flanges after sucha lot of flights. When you see a defective area change the belt, the same rule for the motor belt.

I mean that´s it.

higher the payload , higher the necessary rotorspeed. Rule: As high as really necesssary but not more. You should have alittle bit reserve, at least about 10% of stick, for emergency cases.

Best regards,

Gerd"

I think with big blue you will need to go down in pinion size to reduce your headspeed. I am running 12 th pinion with a head speed right at 1350 gov mode and the esc running above 95%. Everything runs nice and cool. You will probally want to determine which you like best 10s or 12s, I know several of the pros run 12s and had I had the choice I would have done the same, more batts available. I run 10s 8000 mah for 12 minutes with putting back in about 4000 mah.
Not sure which charger you are running but as you will find out batts are expensive so a good charger is a MUST. I am really loving the cell pro 10s charger, it charges through the balance taps and really lets me see what is going on with the cells which it just caught a problem with a new set of tanics I have. Make sure you evaluate your needs on the mount and shooting style. AF mount is heavier I beleive, I have both AF and HCS for different apps.
Not to burst your bubble but if you have only 2 months stick time you probally arent ready for commercial AP work. I know you are gonna do it, so get a second person to run the camera and be your safety person. Its not hard per se but when the **** hits the fan thats when the experience kicks in, if you have to think about it, too late.
Be safe, have fun, the money will come.
Aloha

:)

Thanx for the good info BungeeMike!
I have TP1010c charger and 210 balancer. I will also get Hyperionduo charger so i can charge 2 more batteries at the same time.
How in god's name do you get 12 minutes and only put 4000mah back into the batteries? I want that kind of flying time!
Does that 12t pinion make that much of a difference!?!
12s batteries are better in which way? I did notice that there is much more power avalible when i use them but flight time goes down when compered to 10s. What kind of a mount is "HCS"?
You are corect about not having enough flight time
But i have an oportunity to make money now and i will take it
I am able to hover inverted , nose in hovering and loops all day long
My local hobby store told me i will never be able to get my mustang p51 of the ground without crashing and land it (the first time) and they repated the story of the unflyable helicopters when i got the eflite blade400
I do realize that it is suposed to be hard and it is very much so, but i do seem to advance much faster then the people around here
It must be all that good glue i have been sniffing that enhances my abbilities!
Take care!

my 2 cents, it sounds good for you so far, but as someone has said, "make every landing an auto"

the auto is your last act of control if you have a problem with your heli's motor, unless of course your having receiver problems and loose flight control or have a mechanical failure in your flight controls.

so if you practice doing an auto every time you land you are ready for the problems. doing an auto with your camera gear on for practice I do not recommend at first until you really know the flight charecteristics of the heli.

if you do not have a flight simulator, buy one and practice on there. autos have to become "second-nature" response where you can do them without thinking if you need to do one.

if you do not have a written preflight checklist think about doing one.

Good advice!

That is a good advice. Auto is one thing that i am worried about.
I am to scared to try it yet in real life but i have been practising using realflight g4.
It must go down real fast with all that gear on?
Does anybody now what is the best video downlink for Canon XSI and how to remotly triger it?
Advice and tips would be much appriciated (ihave DX7 remote so it would have to be 5.8 ghz right?)
Thanx guys!
