I am trying to setup a friends gasser Huey tail to behave on his 401 gyro. It swings wildly as the throttle is raised or lowered, any suggestions.

Also what head speed do suggest with a stator gator and GV1.

Sounds like you need to reverse the gyro, head speed if a benzin trainer some where around 1200 to 1250 XGM/VGM

I'm running a GV-1 and Stator Gator on my Vario Bell 212 and I run my head speed down around 1100 - 1150. If I go higher, I get a bit of vibration. I've flown it as low as 900 but it was no fun.

I had a problem with my tail when it was new. I was using a fast servo (not much power though) and it would seem like I couldn't get the tail settled down. I switched out the servo for a strong, slower servo and it works great now. It's as smooth as any heli I have with tons of authority. (BTW, my tail rotor is flipped over to the right hand side to be scale).

You also may want to take the pushrod out of the guide tube and check it for rust.
