Thunder Tiger Raptors 30-90 - Imperio > RAPTOR 90 Raptor 90 3D Tail let go

Yesterday I was flying my Raptor 90 3D. I was practicing auto's. I hit the ground a little firm but did not see a boom strike.

I lifted off went into fast forward flight and the tail let go.

Hit hold and hoped for the best. Not too bad ususal crash parts.

Disassembly revealed that all gears are fine. The torque tube spline ends were snug and intact. The tube itself was sheared. Is it possible that the tube itself failed?

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Thanks,

Alan

I have had that happen,it will almost always do that when the tail touches the ground. The torque tube does not like it.

Does the carbon drive tube have more strength?

Yeah the carbon tube is stronger, but so is the belt. The tube just cannot handle ANY touching the ground.Heck when I first started with the torque tube,I didnt know if I had a heli or a trencher, but keep it off the ground,if you have to,put a longer tail fin on to keep it from touching.
