Im now using a 6.0volt 2700mah pack in my raptor 50. I get 5 flights before it needs charging I would like to upgrade to a lipo power system but im not really sure on a decent setup.

im happy with my setup now, i just hate flying 5 times and haveing to wait so i can recharge my battery.

my current setup
r50
os .50 hyper
futaba fasst R617FS rx
futaba s9452 servos
gy401 w/ 9254 (with 4.8 regulater on servo)
tjp gov.
6.0volt 2700mah nicd rx pack

heres the setup im looking at
Flightpower EVORX3000-2s2p: Flightpower Evo RX, Li-Poly, 3000 mah 2s1p, 7.4v, 25C (75A)
Duralite Voltage Regulator, 7.5 amp w/standard 22ga wire - 6.0 volt

is this a decent setup? how many flights should i get on this setup? what type of charger should i use? also do i need some special type of power switch?

any help would be greatly appreciated

Evo-rx series come with JR connectors, 2 sets of them to be exact. You might have to change them if you want dean. How many flights will depend on your flying style. Try not to discharge more than 80% on a lipo pack. A typical raptor 50 doing 3d should get at least 8flights on a 3000mah pack.

Any decent lipo charger will do fine. You don't need a fancy 10s-capable charger for doing rx pack, unless you also fly electric.

I use a TP 2S 2100 Li-po and i get 6-7 flights on a full digital servo setup, so you may get 8-9. I use an Align step down regulator for the 9254 in the tail otherwise the servo will burn up (I had two before I got the regulator). I use an MPI charge switch/regulator at 6V. I've found that its a clean setup, only a switch and a circuit board, and I have had no problems with it at all. I've had it for over 3 years now and it is still running strong.

The one piece of advice that I would give you is to put the battery in one of those Radio Shack crash boxes. It will save your battery when you crash. I have had a straight nose down crash on my R50 and the battery survived no worse for wear.

Hope this helps.
