Why not?

3m Double sided outdoor mounting tape in two layers. What the problem you had with it?

Zip ties really aren't a good idea, if they are too tight you can transmit vibration from the frame, to the gyro case, bybassing any benefit you get from mounting it on foam tape.

Same with the rubber band if there's much tension on it.

My first choice, and what I do on mine is to use the tape only and give it a gentle twist during pre-flight for the first flight of the day.

The second thing, if you must, would be to use a cloth velcro strap, just tight enough so the sensor doesn't fly off.

The rubberband has a lot more give in it than the doublesided tape does by a long ways. I can't see were it would cause any harm??

Thats exactly what I do with my gyros. Had one come off in flight and like airborne r/c stated, it is not pretty.
