Radio - Servo - Gyro - Gov - Batt > S9253 servo "flyback"...?...

Timetable:
01/21/2002 UPS'd 401 & S9253 to Futaba Sevice Center.
01/28/2002 package arrived Service Center per UPS online tracking report.
02/02/2002 postcard arrived from Futaba acknowledging receipt of equipment.
02/12/2002 NIB replacement equipment arrived from Futaba under warranty, no charge.

That's excellent service. Thanks, Futaba!

The following symptom prompted me to seek repair. In Normal Mode on the bench, when the rudder joystick is fully tilted & released, the servo follows the stick by returning to neutral position. In AVC Mode, of course, the servo should Not return to neutral. My tail had been blowing out during fast tailfirst flight, but only in one direction & I noticed that, even though in AVC Mode, the 9253 was returning to neutral from one direction but not the other. Hence, the trip to Futaba.

The Invoice accompanying the returned replacement reads as follows:

>> SERVICE TECHNICIAN COMMENTS:
>> GY 401 has too much flyback on the servo. some fly back is normal
>> in AVCS mode .
[sic]

Can one of you 401 gooroo's expand on the meaning of the technician comments? And...please...NON-gooroo's?...don't clutter the bandwidth with unscientific wildass guesses. I can puke those up without help. ;-) No, i have not asked Futaba about this yet.

Flyback is the term for how much the servo returns to center, so if the GY 401 has too much flyback it means it is overshooting center.

jrice45516 is one ungrateful mofo!!

I answered his question on here and saw him at the field. He told me I was a moron and didn't know what I was talking about!! Hmm, oh yea I received the exact information I posted straight from the horses mouth, FUTABA. Yet, he calls me a moron and doesn't even thank me. Anybody else think thats right? I certainly don't. What a ingrate!!

Chris,
Your answer is exactly accurate. Excessive flyback means the servo overshoots center as a result of an overcorrection given by the 401.

You know Rappy, Why do we even try to help those Idiots that ask for help then talk sh@#? Let them take the advise from their own kind that give unexperienced help (i.e. YSRRider etc.)as long as it sounds good they will take it. I guess your answer wasn't what he wanted to here so he disregarded you even though you are totally correct.
