Radio - JR & Spektrum DSM > How to mix cyclic to throttle on DX6i ?

I have a Trex 600N without a governor.I want to mix in some throttle when I move the cyclic stick to roll or pitch.I have selected mix 1 and enabled it. I set Aileron > Throttle. I have tried some extreme % like up to 110% just to see if I can get some movement out of my throttle servo when I push the cyclic stick left or right and I get nothing. Anyone have any experience with this that could point me in the right direction ? Thanks

RE:MIXING

IF you are new to the heli. world I highly recomend Ray's Authoritative DVD's either volumes 1-3 or 7-9 for EP or ECCPM If I was you I would buy the whol package like I did they will teach you everything you need to know from A-Z you get a lot better deal when you buy them all too. If you buy one set you will end up buying the rest so you might as well do it right out the gate.. they come with tech support form Ray himself. thu are worth every penny especially for someonr just starting out.If you cant afford them right now write back and I will try to give you a shorthand version. good luck and happy flying JFERA22 PS in vol.- 7-9 he shows you every feture in th DX6and the DX7 and how to apply them to your heli. and vol 1-3 has the nitro set up with the JR 9303

You seem to be on the right track.

Mix aileron->throttle and set a percentage to +30 for example.
Then you have to make sure that the mix is active, it can be set to always be on or to be controlled by a switch. Select a mode and if using a switch make sure its enabled.

Then if you have a servo monitoring feature on your radio you should be able to see the throttle channel move as you move aileron. Ohterwise check the servo on your helicopter.

The mixes can be set in different directions for the slave channel (throttle in this case), I suggested +30 for example but it might be that you need -30 on your setup to get increase of throttle because of servo reversing. The actual number is something you have to try out for your self as it differs. Start out with 15-30 and remember to set for both directions of the stick.

Always check that configured mixes for your cyclic stick result in increase of throttle before first fligt after configuring!!!

Good luck

I doesn't work on the DX6i. You can't mix anything to throttle. Yes, the selection is there, but it doesn't work.

The DX6i is also missing an offset feature from it's mixing capabilities - I tried to do a simple 2-servo elevator mix on a plane with one and couldn't because the slave channel couldn't be centered with the master or at least I couldn't make it work - Had to break out a DX7 to make it work by using the offset feature to center the slave channel - Even the old DX6 had offset in the mixing The DX6i is rather disappointing IMO

That is disappointing to find out. I guess it is time to upgrade. Thanks for all of the replies

I just realized that the mixing on the DX7 doesn't conform to the set travel adjust on the channel. This mean there is a very big risk of having servos bind and cause problems.
Cyclic to throttle for example; FFF full throttle pulling elevator for a loop will cause the throttle servo bind against the carburator arm end point with possible damage.

My PCM9XvII did not have this problem, it must have slipped the minds of the programmers

A possible workaround suggested to me was to make travel adjust for throttle +-150 and then adjust the throttle curves to match the actual travel of the arm. To me this is solving a bad thing with a less bad idea.

This is actually true of most radios.

Another workaround is to use sub-trim. Basically, you pump in a bunch of sub-trim such that 100% throttle is the maximum (or minimum) pulse width the system can produce. Then additional mixing cannot force it passed that point.

Wow, most radios have this problem; strange, how hard can it be.

I miss my pcm9Xvii already....

Mix to throttle...

Hi, I have the same problem.

Here's my thread.

http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t442475p1/

Now I saw the answer here...I am very disappointed.
How can the selections on the programming be there but does not work.
Is it just a software upgrade from Spectrum to activate the Mix on
throttle? Come on Spectrum, what can you do with this?
The DX6i is a much better radio compared compared to other 6 channels.
But, I need that mix to throttle function.
