Radio - JR & Spektrum DSM > GREAT JR SERVICE

I just sent a small load of receivers to JR to updaye them with the new software. The package contained 3 AR7000 and 3 AR6100 receivers. What I got back was all three of the AR6100s with new software and three brand new in the box AR7000 recievers. Wow thats great service from the JR folks! All at absolutely no charge to me. THis makes me feel warm and fuzzy for sticking to their brand and buying a 12X.

To contrast, if I ever send a servo or gyro to Futaba, I get a massive repair bill. So why would anyone else buy Futaba?

They probably aren't new, they decided to change the case on the AR7000 to reflect the data link feature.

But None-the-less, JR/Horizon is the BEST customer service out there. Everyone should follow their lead!!!

Quick...here comes my wife....hide that new Heli !!!!

I wonder what happened to the originals. This is th first time I've head of replacements being given instead of just updating the receivers.

People have been posting similar accounts all over the place- guys getting back new receivers, like Eyefly, and even guys getting back new receivers that were better than what they sent in, i.e. a 7000 exchanged for a new 9000. I'm sure stock availability has a lot to do with it, but still, it's a great way to run a business and foster good will doing stuff like that.

It's really an extremely poor way to run a business, what do you do with all the returned product? You can't legally (or morally) sell it as new, so what do you do, trash it? Maybe sell it as discounted? All of that will lead to taking a bath on the product unless you are making such a huge profit to start with.

It may be great customer service, but really poor business practice.

I haven't seen a large number of posts that say they received a new receiver, so it may be that Horizon found something in those few that was defective. If it becomes more pronounced then they may have had a bad batch of components.

But to simply take the old product in and ship out new product is going to hurt them in the profit column, so there must be a reason.

What do they do with the used receivers?

Well, considering that just one heavy industry factory produces more waste material in one day than the equivelent of hundreds of thousands of Spektrum receivers, I don't think disposing of old units is too big of an issue. I do hope they recycle them.

Keep some perspective here, man. It's fantastic customer service and, hence, good for business. Big time.

I agree that as a business this is a bad way to operate. However if the cost to repair the receiver is less than, or close to the cost to replace it, you can generate a lot of customer loyalty by replacing the old ones with new ones. Do they truly take a bath in the ones they keep? I dont think so. It cant cost much to make a receiver so exchanging them is no big deal. And look at the end result... I am so tickled silly that I will likely never buy another brand again. All for a few bucks, they have ensured brand loyalty from me and have taken one more person from their biggest rival. I think its money well spent.

This is exactly why I am a JR customer and will stay a JR customer. I've never had an issue with their service.
