Thunder Tiger Raptors 30-90 - Imperio > RAPTOR 50 Metal headblock fatigue

I've just changed dampers. I did the usual post-flight checks and found a very alarming failure. My metal rotor hub has fatigued and broken off where the phasing ring bolts on.

It's an HT alloy hub and has about 350 flights on it, mostly learning 3d.

This could have resulted in a very expensive crash!

The message: We're not immune to fatigue!

That’s a common failure. I just replaced the broken ones with a Kasama head block. It is a direct stock replacement and is much more durable. Grandrc.com has them http://www.grandrc.com/inc/sdetail/59292

I've seen that on most of them around here also. It generally won't cause a crash though. The ring just squeezes the broken part in but it doesn't loosen or come off.

If you can't learn to do it well, learn to enjoy doing it badly.
