Well i guess this post is to ask, what receiver should i put on my first heli i just built, the rex 450 se v2.

But it also is to ask what radio should I get.

What am i doing in thsi hobby? Well for now and I do mean this, im sticking with my 450. I will upgrade to a 500 size heli next, but thats as big as im going for a LONG LONG Time.

So what radio and receiver would do the trick for my 450 se v2? ( Dont care what receiver i should put on my 500 when i get it, just wanna know the radio that will do both helis, and the receiver that will do the 450 well )

IF you are absolutely POSITIVE that you will NEVER EVER do anything else with your TX, then a 6 channel should suffice.

But if there is the slightest chance that you will ever do anything bigger.... 7 channels (Or better) is the way to go

The older I get, the shorter my attention....... Oh look. A shiny penny..

For the money, the DX7 is hard to beat, it comes with receiver and at one point they had a deal where you could mail in for another receiver for free.

I'm not a fan of the DX7 but the facts are hard to deny, it's a good deal for the money and they sell fast when you want to upgrade to a better RX/TX system

The problem is id rather not buy it with all those servos, and doesnt it coems with the 7000 which isnt necessary for my 450?

I was in the same boat a few months ago. I knew I wanted the DX7 but didn't want the servos it came with. I picked up my DX7 new in box on ebay for about $200 shipped and then bought an AR6200 by itself. I went for the AR6200 rather than the AR6100 because of the satellite receiver, but the AR6100 would also be a fine choice for a 450. I just searched ebay and didn't see any DX7s by themselves, but there are several auctions for a DX7 and AR6100 (no servos) for $220 + $18 shipping which is a pretty fair price:

I believe you can buy it without the servos and the AR7000 is not over kill for your application. 6 channels is the minimum and the AR 7000 is 7 Channels...... If you ever want to add a night setup the 7th channel will come in handy.

I would not suggest you buy a 6 channel radio system unless you think you will never advance in this hobby, and you're willing too take the loss of buying the cheapest system out there, that nobody wants
