I was going to power my Beam with A-123 cells and have 13t,14t and 15t pinions. I think that I could get a headspeed I would be comfortable with using one of those.

But now,I have ordered 2, 3S 2200 lipos and an 11t pinion.

With the Scorpion 2221-8 and 13t I get a headspeed using 90% eff of 3356 rpm's.

Im pretty new at helis and want to start out with a pretty tame setup, the 11t pinion should get me about 2617rpms.Will that work?

I also ordered weighted Gorilla Paddles.

Also, the 3 wires on the Scorpion motor are all black. Do you connect the center motor wire to the center yellow wire on the Scorpion ESC. I know the other 2 will determine the rotation direction...so...is this correct.

Thanks for the help. It is hard for me to figure out all of this on my on, I keep getting stumped. No LHS to go to around here...

Thanks.

You can start off with 11t and see how you like it. As for the motor wires, you need to test it to see which way the blades spin. If the motor spins the wrong way, then just reverse two of the wires.
