I would imagine that a service centre will be able to do this, BUT it will be a limited Mode3. Just remember that the Rudder & Aileron trims will be wrong on the display. The trim displays will never be able to be corrected, but they can be moved to the correct position assuming of course that it follows the older 10X functionality.

But, this MUST be done at a service centre (if of course they will do it... some will.... some won't even contemplate it !)

They cannot do a full 100% conversion to Mode 3 as the system do not allow. HOWEVER... they should be able to do a limited conversion to Mode 3.

i.e. The Sticks will be in Mode 3 ( Throttle & Rudder on right stick, Elevator & Aileron on right stick complete with trims) BUT the trim display will be on the wrong side.

It means a bit of work which is probably why they don't want to do it !!

Ask them if they could do a limited Mode 3 conversion (ie as per a PCM10X) ... or try contacting JR in Japan.
