Problem is that your base your head-design on a 3D setup but without the help of a Gyro, it wont be easy to fly no matter what since you have the full range of 3D flight and have to limit that with your fingers.

Weight down the heli and add some mixing arms to take off some cyclic pitch while keeping the collective intact and it will be better, bad still, but better.

Btw, even some full scale (Bell 47, Huey) utilize a flybar.

Because of how sensitive these things are with out the fly bar I have added a very large amount of EXPO to the control to help soften the inputs. I have also limited the amount of over all ELE, ALE the controls will add to the swash. The bird is not at all set up to do 3D. It could be very easily but I have not done it to this one. I don't care for 3D personally. It looks cool but not what I enjoy flying. I have tried doing it and just don't care for it. I want a bird that is a challenge to fly and not spent a fortune on it or the set up. I will learn how to fly this one with a bit of time. Your probably right and I will not like it at all but this is what makes the hobby fun for me.

yes, but you limit things in your radio rather then mechanically, which means you loose resolution on the servo's.

Better to limit it mechanically and utilize full travel of the servo.

Got some more flight time in of the x-cell yesterday. This bird is a trip to play with now. I am having fun with out the bar on it. will be looking at some pattern idle up work with it next weekend.
