Avant Aurora - EFX - FX > Aurora = Badass

I got my Aurora flying today, and I have to say it really was worth the wait. I had an EFX, and I have to say it's really not an all CX Avant. The heli has an amazingly smooth hover, fast cyclic, and snappy collective feel. I'm currently running mine with 1900 rpm in idleup, 14* of collective, and the swash is maxed out on cyclic. It locks in during all maneuvers to the point that it rivals the feel of a properly set up flybarless machine. I had a scale at the field today, and mine without the canopy is 9 pounds 9 ounces. The canopy alone unpainted is about 5 ounces, so it should be around 7-8 max when it's done. So rtf with a nice canopy, it'll be about 10 pounds even.
The only thing that I noticed as unusual from other helis I've built/flown is that there is a significant amount of gear noise, coming from the main gear. I did have a high spot that was very tight, so I'd suspect thats where the noise is coming from, but as the gears set in it's quieting down a bit.
I'm very happy about mine, can't wait to hear from more of you guys when you get yours done.

Sweet Eric!

You know what I think. I think this is time for some Müzak!

Yeah, and just when you thought the whole Müzak bits were starting to get old, THINK AGAIN! haha

"El Dooderino" if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

I'm running mine on the Active settings with a few changes.
I'll only be running it flybar'ed for another few weeks, and it will then be converted to flybarless using the probar system.

Hey Henry,

How bad did you break up Jody's kickass brain canopy in your crash at MHA?

The high pitched noise is mainly those tail gears. Mine would squeal like crazy when it had the first prototype gears. The new production gears that I've saw run with Danny and Marcus last week seemed a lot quieter out there.

Not at all, had it back together in 35 minutes. Going to fly it again and the rx battery was at 4.45 volts. This is what caused the crash.

Yeah, on mine I think it's a combination of the tail gears and the main gear mesh. On my aurora there was one high spot that was really tight on the main gear, but it is starting to wear in.

What's so bad is that it looked like a crashed on a simple back tumble.
