I drove to Phoenix today to fly with Jason Krause and, of course, he just HAD to do some low level inverted stuff with my new pride and joy!!

New pride and Joy

Jason's facial expression doesn't look concerned. What would yours look like if the camera was on you Bill?

Bob Johnson was also doing this at the weekend using a British made turbine from SPS. Bob also did 3D flight including death spirals. He demonstrated this at the Charmouth Fly-in

Have a look at his web site:

No worries, Alan. I have all the confidence in the world in Jason's abilities. He was VERY careful with the jet.

It was a great day in Phoenix! Wish you could have been there.

Jetcopter inverted

Bill what blades do you have installed on the SX, and what is your setup. How much swash plate movement with full cyclic?

I recieved 810mm Gray Semi-sym blades

I have only done fast forward, stall turns and some loops. it is sluggish and it really wants a lot of cyclic to come out of a loop.

I am using a Futaba 9CH so if you could please share the wealth on your setup I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi Alan,

I have white, Vario, fiberglass, semi-symetrical blades - probably 810s. I'm running +11, -10, and Jason said it took almost full bottom stick to keep it hovering when inverted. He and I agree that it is very sluggish as you mentioned, is unstable in a hover, it pitches up a LOT in FFF and needs a LOT of cyclic to come out of a dive or to roll it. He attributes the problems mainly to the low head speed. Sure wish there was an 'approved' way of spinning it up to maybe 1450 or 1500 to see if it helps. (You out there Josef??)

I'm not looking for a 3D machine here, but I would expect it to be much more stable and predictable than it is. All the JetCopter guys I've talked with are saying the same things...

Don't get me wrong...I love it!!!!!!! Just looking for more 'control'.

Thanks Bill, and thanks for the great paint job and fast turn around on the canopy. i read somewhere that jason somes will be testing higher head speeds. i beleve that new belts will be needed as previous tests resulted in chewed up drive belts

Oh Bill now you went and did it. You really P.O.ed my wife, she saw me watching the video and all she was saying is" don't get any ideas".
I just blamed it on you.
So next time I order a canopy I will have her call you with the order. And maybe you will be able to explain to her better than I .
Gee doesn't every Real Man need a jetcopter ?

I've tried to download the video several times, I get 5.79 Mb and then it says 'complete' On playing, it cuts out soon after the take off. I don't usually have problems downloading videos, and have a decent ADSL line. Any ideas why?
