Spacey what is a good blade for the sylphide,I can get SAB 685's but with 12mm grip, I note the sylphide is 18mm, do you space it or?

Yes most blades are either 12mm or 14mm at the grip, just space them up. Most blades will also come with the needed spacers to do this. Unfortunately some don't but ok most do.

I'm not too familier with the SAB's but the ones I have flown have been pretty good all round blades. Suppose it's all going to depend very largely on what you want to do with the heli. If it's going to be flown like it is intended to then the K&S 680 Spec-S blades are really good. The new fiberglass/carbon versions are apparently the hot ticket now. Otherwise you could get some 690 Rotortechs. You could also look at the fiberglass K&S 700's with 95mm tail rotor blades like Ito used last year. There's many others that really fly well but their hard to come by. I'd really look at the K&S blades.

If you're just going to do sport flying and nothing serious there's many options. Of course my favourites being the Rotortechs.

I've been trying for a month to get the K&S Spec S blades with no luck. They seem to be a closley guarded secret in Japan. I've also been looking for the new K&S F3C muffler too. No luck on that as well.

I've just recently put my Gracy fuse on my Sylphide.

I'm still flying SAB 0204, these are old blades now but they hover better than all the other blades that I have, their only fault is probably their lack of reserve in autorotation. Obviously its better to use the rotortechs but I haven't tried these yet.

I wouldn't be at all impressed with the K&S mufflers though. If they are re-badged Zimmermans I'd stay clear of them. Zimmerman mufflers are nice, and their sound is very nice, but alas all the ones I had broke on me and that's why I don't touch them.

The best mufflers for F3C is probably the Funtechs or Hatori 999s. I love the funtechs

Any idea as to what the Hatori 999 translates to for the US?

Why fibreglass if carbon fibre is suppose to be the rage?
I'm into sport flying only since I'm still a newbie in the sport, however would like to have a similar setup to what you guys run on competition machines. No use having a Ferrari with offroad tires!
Spacey,Where do I get K&S in SA

I find that the fiberglass blades hover a little better. Not as reactive to inputs as there not as stiff as carbon.

Foamy Love: RCJapan.net will hook you up with both the K&S blades and muffler you seek within a week. The only thing that could delay it is if K&S themselves are out of stock. We've had this a few times but it doesn't take long for them to get around that problem.

synodontis: Don't know about them being rebagged zimmermans. The old mufflers maybe but AFAIK the new ones are K&S exclusives. The Funtechs are great mufflers but they don't hold a candle power wise to the new K&S. The new Hatori we tested IMHO sucked as far as mounting goes with that rubber mount thing they got going. It's a good muffler otherwise but the K&S produced the same power and the whole package otherwise was sweeter. This is the new K&S with the ribbed section which tapers down in sections front and back. Anyways, we haven't had mufflers falling apart on us except one which was in a crash right before this happened. But yea at least 5 of them flying regularly and going a long time now without problems.

Stolla: Don't be fooled. Fiberglass when used right with a little carbon can indeed create an awesome F3C blade. Their much cheaper and they have just right amount of flex in a hover to help compensate for gusts and things. I've seen these new Fiberglass blades in action and their really impressive. They do the F3C schedule with ease.

Give it another go? Email really isn't the most reliable form of communication.
