Build thread update

...just for anyone champing for news.. build stalled pending last parts; muffler, regulator and fuel tank. The last miffs me.. ordered it UK 10 days ago and emailed the shop yesterday - they hadn't posted it yet!

..I'm having to work full-time a while (sad) so I'm guessing a couple of weeks to finish up but hope to have Preddie airborne this w/e weather permitting ..

Damn, that's too bad. Mine should be here tomorrow, it'd be a shame if I beat you on the maiden.

That’s bad news, I have a spare V3 muffler you can use if you need it, also if you get stuck the tank is in stock at

Was wondering that happened to the build review

So does this mean its all built and ready to go less fuel tank and muffler? And are the servos all in there with the receiver except for the power system?

Sounds like you're pretty close. If you haven't done so already power it up with a standard battery and set the throws/program the radio and such so its one step closer to flight.

Looking forward to hearing some more updates and you're overall impression once you get the full experience!

It's very kind of you but not an issue.. I had originally intended to maiden using stock muffler or borrow the one off Preddie..but delays re regulator and then Preddie's parts arrived so I got on with his/her rebuild. If the parts hadn't arrived then I would have used him/her as a donor.

I'm sure you all understand how painful it is to see a broken heli in the hanger.. more urgent to mend than complete the new one. It sits there giving guilty looks and reinforcing one's incompetent piloting

Raja,
I want to complete but work-type stuff interfering and decided not to rush the last bits. If parts delayed beyond next week then I'll source duplicates from more reliable, albeit more expensive, sources - but wallet fatigue was setting in - two new gassers close together and a prang don't help...

450 is rebuilt..still looks like was boom fatigue on a new boom! (it wasn't a strike or strike like fracture..almost clean break flush with the boom block). Also waiting for a cheaper import esc for my 600e that fried its own - to add to my run.

When it hit the fan - it was diarrhoea!

Dubro Tank

I was wondering what the tank model number is that all of you are ordering? My spectra kit will be here in just a few days. Thanks..

Are you neighbors with Al at Hanson's?

Its a dubro 16oz tank, the one with the hump. See my gallery for a photo showing the install.

Wish I was there to visit too!

If you see him tomorrow, tell him I'm helping a guy here build a Spectra-g and he just bought a stock G26 which I'm going to have him send to Al to get reworked. This guy's name is Edsun.

Ok, will do if I talk to him tomorrow. I have a new in the box 231PUH so I am going to put that in my Spectra however I have a feeling a modified G-26 might somehow find it's way over sooner than I had planned (lol). The new Century muffler looks nice since they improved it. I had the old version on my Predator Gasser. I now have the Hatori $$$ we will see how that works out.

Have Bruce modify the 26

Go with that from the start. The 231 works well but when you're looking for power in 3d maneuvers "there is no replacement for displacement".

I've flown both and after having felt the 26 I am disappointed with having a 231. Don't get me wrong, I've you're never flown a 26 you'd be VERY happy with a 231, but if you're comparing both, I'd go with a modified 26 any day. Note (stock 26's are a no no).

THAT much more, no

But noticibly more powerful, yes! Like I said before, if you're taking off, hovering, and flying around or even doing AP work, there is NO difference. If you start doing full power climbouts or hard 3d, there is a noticable difference.

For the benefit of those of us with a TRM231 waiting to be installed in a new Spectra, I'd appreciate it if you'd stop saying the 26 is worth it. You're making me feel bad.

Sorry sorry sorry!

The TRM 231 is definately a good motor too and the Spectra was designed around that motor with the GR optimized for it at 7.15. MAX head speed by design was meant to be 1800 rpms and I'm sure at that speed that machine will fly very well! Don't feel bad, you're going to enjoy it for sure!!

For anyone who needs a century V3 muffler, I just spoke with Al at Hanson and he has a few in stock. I know they have been difficult to find.
