I've had both. The 12Z does feel better in your hand and it's the better value between the two.

My favorite feature of both? The gimbles are by far the best in the industry, period.

The only downside I see with the 12Z is the clear plastic screen cover sits flush with the surface of the radio and is really easy to scratch. (I found that some light polish will take out the scratches)

Really, both are superb pieces of engineering in both hardware and software.

Now I just want an updated 12Z with *integrated* 2.4GHz instead of a big box hanging off the back like I have now.

I'd also love to see a back lit screen with real glass, that would be nice for the price point.

My personal wishes aside, kudos to Futaba for an outstanding product.

Yeah, right. I guess if you've never used the gimbals on a JR 10X....

@Ace_Dude

I have used a 12X, the Futaba gimbles (and 12Z in general) are superior in my opinion.

The gimbals on my 14MZ are nowhere near as smooth as the ones that were on my 10X. I haven't tried a 12X yet.

I disagree, but that's why I fly Fubata and you fly JR, enjoy your purchase.

In my experience, while JR makes outstanding products, Futaba has superior transmitter technology.

Did you actually read my post? How about the part where I specifically said "on my 14MZ".

What makes you believe Futaba is superior?

the stick assemblies in the 12/14Z are around $160.00 per unit.
they too are ballbearing supported.
JR 10X stick assemblies are around $60.00 per unit.
both feel the same to me, but somewhere, either Futaba is screwing us 12/14Z owners, or JR has cut cost by using cheaper electronics on their 10X gimbals.
but all in all, what happens in the air is what makes the difference...........centering accuracy is the real issue here and feel is a personal issue.
they both feel like silky smooth, so it's really getting down to comparing apples to oranges.

Some where on-line I saw a fellow that makes screne savers that go over the plastic to prevent scratches, or if it does you just change it for a new one. Has any one else seen these? Also i have flown Futaba for 35 years. It's a GREAT product

Ahhhhh Master Card...."priceless"!

Sal i just got a couple screen savers from,

http://www.rcscreenprotectors.com/i...les/Page684.htm

looks like a very good product......haven't had the time to put one on, but it is made of a plastic that adheres but does stick permanently so it doesn't end up screwing up the original screen.

I have a 9CH Super now and I LOVE it; It's just the sticks do not have the ball bearings in them, so at mid stick collective it... well...sticks. I shake when i fly sooooooo, it's either a sweet hover or........VAROOOOM straight up at just a thought of movement. Plus everyone needs MORE chanels,+ 2.4 Gig.....Brother I can't wait. I'll still keep the 9 and use it as my 72mHz radio and trainer for the Grand kids Thanks for the kind words. Papa

then when you feel the sticks on the 12Z for the first time, you'll be sleeping with it.......they are sweeeeet.
but just wait till you see the graphics in the menus.....you'll never look at the 9C again.
