I'm having an "issue" with my Gyro (Telebee).

Can someone walk me through the setup?
I've seen the finlesbob video, but am still having drift problems (can't get it to center).

So, if I understand the process:

In rate mode:
1) Set servo horn at 90* (requires sib-trim on mine).
2) Set tail to mechanical center.
Question on this: Is that mechanical center, or
is it centered so it flys straight?
Slide tail servo to accommodate. (seriously?)
3) Switch to HH mode.
4) Use sub trim to adjust for "no creep"
5) Go fly.

Well, that's just not working out for me. I can't seem to find a spot where the tail doesn't drift.
I know Telebees aren't the best Gryo on the market, but they're not the worst either, and a lot of people are happily flying them. I really suspect that I've just not done something right with the setup.

I was flying HH mode for a while yesterday, and except for the annoying drift, it was nice to have the tail hold that well. It was nice not to have it blow out every time a little breeze hit it.
So, now I need to get it set right.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Helicopters don't fly, they beat the air into submission.

I'm not that familiar with Telebee gyros but if I'm not mistaken it very similar to an Align gyro. Perhaps someone here will chime in that has messed with either. Unlike the 401, some gyros require some offset and I'm not sure if this apply for this particular gyro. In any event, try increasing your headspeed. There has been several cases where this resolves allot of drifting issues. This would mean you would have to alter your throttle curves. Keep in mind that your heli will get a little sensitive on the collective once this is achieved so don't go too crazy. At this point you might want to increase your expo and or add flybar weights and heavier paddles if necessary.

Good luck

Not familiar with this gyro but I would think subtrim = bad

Adjust the tail mechanically with the gyro in rate mode so that it hovers with no drift (it will not be centered). Set your throws and all the other items. Then turn on HH.

I concur with Mike - tail mechanically set so it doesn't drift in the hover (rudder trim centred, tail blades will not be zero pitch). Sliding the tail servo only applies where the servo is mounted to the tail boom and those mounts/clamps allow the servo to be moved up and down the boom. I suppose it may be less fiddly than popping off a ball link and adjusting the length of the control rod.

you need to start from ground zero. that being the servo horn. given that the radio has zero sub trim, rudder trim tab is centered, and revo mixing is off, ensure that the servo horn is exactly perpendicular to the rudder control arm. also ensure that you are using the appropriate hole on the servo horn so that the control arm isn't bending. take note that the closer to the inside of the servo horn the better. once this is done, ensure that your gyro is capable of utilizing the maximum amount of throw of the servo by adjusting the limits. once this is all done, then you can start thinking about the gain.
