Only if you're hard core.
It helps with pitch response POP.

You can leave it in or out, up to the pilot. As Dood stated it provides a more locked in feel when transiting tons of pitch from positive to negative, or vise versa. Tip for installing it is to use ALOT of soapy soapy water.

Ok, the real reason I don't have mine installed, is because I tore it to shreds trying to slip it on.

Its in the trash.

Can anyone measure the OD & the wall thickness for me?
I'll see what I can find for a substitute.

Dood,

In the manual, it was suggested that I use a hemostat to grab the rubber and slide it on.

Turns out the hemostat is not so great of an idea. It tears through pretty quick.
DONT USE THE HEMOSTATS!

I dry rag would work much better.

I'm tubeless until I can find a replacement.

Have I completely lost my mind, or would anyone else agree that several wraps of duct tape would do the same thing as that center damping tube?

Heres what I do to install it. I use alot of soapy water, and start it by pushing it over the spindle a few mm. Then I take a 1.5 mm wrench, and slip it inside of the tubing, and go around the spindle, and pushing forward on the tubing while doing so. Once its mostly on, I then add more soapy water, and grab the front edge of the tube with a towel, or something that I can hold it with without slipping, and pull it to the center of the shaft.

Also check your head block to see if you have any burrs where the 2 Head button holes are, that may cause the dampener to rip.

JUST CUT IT

I had the same problem...I used soap and ended up cutting off about 1/8" from one end and it went in there no problem.

did mine last night with soapy water and a towel and it went on with no problems. The hardest bit was getting that in the head block, found twisting it worked well.
