then one more question, how do you sand it smooth without taking out the detail, cuz when i was sanding the as-355 fuse, that stuff came off pretty easy (it was what i was going for) so what do you do about that

407 Tail

@ Torque,

The 407 tail boom has the panel line seams in the same locations as the others roughly at 11 and 5 o'clock. Here's a couple of pics showing both sides and the two full length riveted seams. Now the horizontal stab doesn't have any rivets unlike the 206B.

Regards,
George

Rotor George is looking at the full scale helicopter. I can't imagine ANYTHING being out of place If anyone can get true to scale, Rotor George can.

The helicopter tailboom in the pictures is definitely a Bell 407! You can tell by the fins on the horizontal stabilizer! I know because I fly one!

Top coat

Hey guys,
The parts are getting the top coat, so mold making will start soon (or finally).

And lastly, I fabricated the quick lock fastener(simulated) to be installed on the finished fiberglass cowling. I'm casting these right now.

Until next time,
George

This (to me) is a facinating journey. I've never seen anyone create their own mold plugs....I'm anxious to see the finished fuselages out of the molds.

What mechanics or power system do you put into a 1/4 scale rig?

I'm happy that somone is taking the time to document plug making.I have attempted to do something like this but was unsure on how the whole process was done.I have foam shaped but it ended there. It would be great if your were to document step by step the actual mold making process ie how to mold each side and make the alighnment pins and so on.You have inspired me to attempt this again.I have a Bergen Intrepid standard gasser which needs a sclae fuse. What size of mechanics are your fuse designed for?

This is an attempt at a 30 sized fun scale cobra type fuse no plans just a hunk of foam and a band saw and an image in my head

What a team!

Hi Guys,

This project has taken on a life of it's own it seems.

I am fortunate enough to have a couple of very talented RR members contact me to help in their areas of expertise. With their help this project will be taken to that next level.

BCM (Tony) has agreed to design and build the custom mechanics for these fuselages. The plan there is to mount everything ontop to free up the cabin, which brings me to Mario.

Mario has also stepped forward to help with the more intricate detail parts including a full interior trim kit.

Here's a preliminary example of the landing gear mounting blocks as an example of the level of detail you can expect to see, it’s incredible!

I’d like to publicly thank you guys for stepping forward, this is turning into a dream come true for me.

Until next time,
George

Hi guys,

I'm Mario,

Like most of you I couldn't stop looking in on George to see his progress. Then it went to: "I can't stand by and not get involved!" His thread here is astonishing no?

Welcome to RR Mario. Can we expect some pics of the interior updates as well? Heck, even the mechanics would be cool. Imagine all of the components coming together here as a build thread that expanded to include them both in progress and with pics. Way to go George!

The work is first rate if not a new bar being set with each post. I'd be a proud owner when the time is right. Now, which one?

The beatings will continue until morale improves...

Hi thanks for the welcome. I will be adding photos to George's thread here as I move along. Here's an image I sent George to show him where I am:

Here are some of the parts, cnc cut to size. (Note Bic lighter to show size)

This is just a spacial mock-up. None of this will actually be part of a kit (yet). It's just for checking sizes and tolerences of parts as George and I work on them. It has taken several dozen eMails and several phone calls to get me to the same page, but I'm here now!

Tonight I'm preparing the Gear Mounting Block patterns, I'll include them when complete. I may also show the latex casting process if you guys are interested.

As for you folks on this thread: I can tell your interest and support means a lot to George, for example "HeliPolski"'s photo's have been helpful to me as I chase down details, there's no Jetrangers lurking about in my area actually. Does anyone have a few closeups of the cable/wire cutters?

Thanks again guys!

Mario
