I have not added total "system cost" but starting with a 50 usd heli and 2 gws gyro's (okay a gy 401 on the tail) its probblay not mutch

But how well does it fly? You cant substitute two cheap gyros for a real flybarless system. I read on the link that you posted, that it flies very unstable. Yes it works, but it has limitations.

how stable?

well because the link geometry is all wrong (yet) it has a few overcontroll issues.
Once i have the head done better i can give you a more detailed aswer and hopefully a vid to just show you.
But i am confident this will become a good stable flying heli that can fly in worse wind conditions then stock.
