I'm wondering what you guys are pulling for Full Throttle Pitch with the Hyper 50 ??

I'm running 13 degrees pitch and it pulls it fine.

How does the weight of the new MP5/50 SB compare to the standard MP5/50. Is it lighter in weight or much the same ??

I don't really see much difference in the weight of the new SB pipe. I'm sure it's a few grams more just because it is a tad longer but is not a concern for me.

Here are the weights I just got from 2 brand new pipes.

MP5 50SB - 167.5 grams
MP5 50 - 169.6 grams

As for the engine RPM that will depend on the head speed you will be running. For instance most people are running 2000+ on the head these days. At 2000 the engine is running at 17000 RPM, and many go over this number. So the engine RPM will kind of be your choice. I beleive you will find it will be more about head speed than engine RPM in the end though.

Hope this helps some.

Brian

Mine runs well. Every bit as much power as the two piece hatori muffler, maybe even a little more. I think my headspeed is about 2000 with an 8.7 gear ratio.

RappyTappy, your link is for a 4 stroke motor. Tuning a 2 stroke and a 4 stroke are two vastly different things.

I will agree too much back pressure is a bad thing for either motor, but not enough backpressure on a 2 stroke is bad news. Without backpressure on a 2 stroke, there will be a fair amount of wasted fuel and power.

I just got my MP5SB and was surprised to see that it was almost the same size as the MP5. It looks as though the front of the muffler is now longer and the rear shorter. overall it looks to be maybe 1 inch longer. Can't wait to try it out on the Vibe.

The picture shows a copper gasket. Is this new with the SB? I don't recall my original mp5 coming with it.
