Avant Aurora - EFX - FX > Voltage monitoring gizmo on 8.4 volts ? and 8717 servo temps.

Speaking of wiring... Anyone found a good way to monitor the lipo voltage without having to pull the canopy between flights ? I know roughly how many flights the receiver lipo is good for but it sure is comforting to actually 'see' that it's charged sufficiently. (I had a switch partially fail long ago that quickly drained the battery and caused the receiver to die on flight two instead of getting the normal 6 flights.)

Anyone using a voltwatch, GEM2000, etc. on the aurora ? I'm looking to mount one somewhere that's viewable when cranking without pulling the canopy. I'm lazy.

Also, the 8717's on 8.4 volts are suprisingly toasty after a flight or even on the bench during setup work. I suspect it's normal but I'd like a warm fuzzy that everyone's runs warm on 8.4

thanks

I'm using a futaba heavy duty switch, then adding a deans plug on the power lead. Many have used this switch without any trouble, it's rated at a constant 10A., which is more than you'll see in flight. I just use my Fromeco 8 ball voltage checker, plugged into the charge lead on the switch...it has a 1 and 1.5 A load when checking, works great. My servos are just a little warm after a flight.

Exactly my setup as well. Works fine. I would be using it on my Aurora too... if it ever comes.

I'm a running Fromeco badger switch regulated down to six volts with a Fromeco super sahara regulator straight into an AR7100 receiver. I will not abuse my 8717's for anyone, I pay for my equipment and will have it a very long time!

I know they say they will take the punishment but the real question is... how long?
