I'm going to build another 600N, what is the best gyro to put it in? Everyting I have now has 401's in them, seems like everyone is moving away from them.

The 401 is still a very solid gyro. But if you want the best, get the DS 760 if you can get a hold of one or a 611 if you can't

I was going to recommend the 401 but its definately not the best. The Spartan on the other hand is a good candidate. Jason Bell flew a Spartan on his new Advant during the BakersField funfly that I went to recently here in Cali and it was able to handle everything he threw down. The other option is the 611. Both rocks!

Why is spartan better?

First off, it holds like a vice! Fully programmable. it holds like a vice. Can be used with any servo. It holds like a vice. firmware updateable. It holds like a vice. idiot proof setup out of the box.

Did I mention that..... It holds like a vice.

The Spartan also has Artificial Intelligence, i.e. it adapts in flight. I have seen this with my own eyes and it is incredible.

It’s not artificial intelligence ! It’s alien technology…..and has a “flux capacitor” in it also ! It just works man !

Dimmit..I can stop this anytime I want..no..really I can

Can you explain this further? Not that my skills will need such a thing anytime soon but your statement has my attention

My G7703D holds like a vise as well, I'm happy with it.

Well it's adaptive to the setup and conditions. Our local Pro has one on his 600 and on one flight he took it up and did his usual Piro's in both directions before starting to hit it. The Piro's and stops were not consistent on the first few and then - BAM, they were perfect for the rest of the flight. I asked him if it was HIM doing something different and he said nope, Gyro adapting. Bloody impressed I was.

From the website:
http://www.spartan-rc.com/products/ds760/ds760.php
"The single unit and lightweight design together with adaptive control algorithms offer optimal performance for your helicopter whether you fly a miniature Hurricane 200 or large 90 size nitro machine."

It does what it says!

My vote is for the CSM 720, fully programmable and hold the tail like a vice. Dead easy to set up and small and light and all in one package. The back up from csm is also very good.

Good luck

I vote for Solid G. It comes with setting optimized for the 600N. I have it and it works great.

I've a Solid G in my 600N and though it's optimized for the 600N I had to edit almost every parameter. Maybe it works better with the Redline and more costant HS. I'll buy a Spartans for my helis to come.

ds760 is the gyro from the future.

It will work with almost ANY tail servo out there:

http://www.spartan-rc.com/products/ds760/ds760.php

"Compatibility
Don’t let your gyro restrict your choices. Whether you fly a 2.4GHz, PCM or PPM/FM radio system, use NiCDs or LiPo receiver battery, or want to use a 760uSec servo the ds760 will be happy to work with any combination you pick. In fact it can work direct from a 2S LiPo battery making it ready for the next generation of 7.4V servos.

The ds760 supports for all modern digital servos including Futaba S9251 / S9253 / S9254 / S9256 / S9257 / S9650 / S3153 / S3154 / BLS251, JR 8900G / 3400G / 2700G / 8700G / 810G, Sanwa ERG-WRX, Airtronics 94758 / 94761, Hitec 5925MG / 6965HB, Robbe FS61BB, LogicTech 3100G / 6100G, Sky HDS-577 / HDS-877. This list is not exhaustive. "

I would say that the 8900G or BLS251 would be about the best available.

Another vote for the Solid-G. Using it in all of my helis with BLS251's and it's been the most consistent gyro I've used to date (though I have not tried the Spartan as of yet). IMO the Solid-G is hands down a much better performed than the 401, 770 or 611.
