Guys can I get some pics of your ESC location, the 45amp scorpion is 75mm long, so it is quite large for the front of the beam I'm thinking of getting a Jazz 40-6-18 which is only 49mm, thanks in advance,

Kev

I do use the Scorpion ESC 45amp and I would most rather like to place inside the main frame but as you said, due to its size it makes it rather complicated. Thus, I have attached it in the left side of the frame as you see in the attached photo.

Here is my Jazz beneath the battery tray.. I have also side mounted it but the spinning outrunner is too close..

The CC Phx 45 also fits nicely under the battery tray like the Jazz.

Thanks for your pics guys, I setted on the Jazz 40-6-18 it fits great and I think as an ESC they under rate what it can handle. It will easily take the HK2221-8 and probably the -6 aswell, which is food for thought,

cheers Kev

The Jazz seems to take the -6 well after several packs.. It even handles the longer stock blades..

Cooling issues with ESC placement?

I am building a new Beam and love the kit. I can hardly wait to get it airborne. My question is if I put my ESC up front under the battery, should I cut cooling slots into the canopy? I am getting back into this after a long time away and so I will be learning all over again...as in lots of hovering practice.
Thanks for any help.

Darren

Hi Darren,

ESCs are quite variable in their current handling these days.. Generally, a ESC that can handle 40 amps will not overheat if the gearing ratio is matched to the motor and load placed on it.. I dont think you will need any cooling mods if everything is matched right..
