e-Electric General Discussion > Difficulty to get motor running in T-REX 600...

Hello everybody,

I'm looking for some help regarding electric motor/ESC in general but particulary Align 600L motor/speed controller. Here is the story. Some time ago one of three power wires from the motor broke near the connector. What I did was cutting all the wires about 1/2" and resolder. I was very careful to remove all paint from the wires as engine wires are particulary difficult for soldering process. After that I have done many successful flights with no problems encountered. Unfortunately, some time ago my motor/ESC started to malfuncunction. The problem is it has problems with getting started. When I move collective forward it attempts to start but then the power is lost. It does eventually start after several trials and keeps running well. Any idea what can be wrong?

Next time it dosen't wanna start rotate the motor by hand 45deg and try again. I'm not sure if this applies to brushless but all the other electric motor's I've ever worked on can get "dead spots" on the armature and have a hard time getting started. Once started these run fine so if it starts fine after you rotate it then it's the motor or windings therein. If not, it's the esc. Take it to an electrical engineer or just toss it and buy a new one. Either that or it's gonna die midflight on you one of these days.

Hi

I get this problem with my 75amp ESC. I believe that you just re-set / re programme the ESC.

Personally I haven't bothered. It takes 3 attempts to spool up then it's ok. For your info I've had 85 flights with the ESC and 600L motor.

try swapping the motor wires around to the esc, I have seen it a number of times where the motor starts better when the wires are swapped around

keepin' it real

I had a align esc problem sounded like that, didnt start untill 1/2 stick sometimes. shortly after that the esc blew flames out the side. I didnt buy an align esc to replace it, I got something else.
