Miniature Aircraft Nitro/Gas Helicopters > T/R output gears?

How many of you are running the new machined gear set or are you running the old gray gears?

The reason I ask is this, I have the old gray set on my Ion-X2. I had them with me in Iraq and put a little over 30 hrs on them in the sand and grit. No issues at all. I get home and convert my X2 to V-bar and after 14 flights, I throw a tooth on the output gear. I had a brand new set of the gray gears and installed them in the X2 to get her back in the air. I have had no problems so we will see what happens.

When I bought my Fury last summer, it included the grey gears. Been flying them probably 5 or 6 gallons without any problems. In all fairness, I don't do any piro-reversal manuvers though.

Been flying with the "old" ones for 3 years without a problem. Just tipped the tail a week ago and bought bent the shaft. Had to bought the new gear to fit the new shaft! But the gear were still in perfect shape.

I'm not the hardest flyer thus said... Altough I wish I were!

Will keep them in spare...

If it's not broken, don't fix it. I've had mine for 2 years no issues.

Just do it.

I've been flying my tempest with the grey gears set for a year or so haven't noticed any issue yet, not even after a hard crash.

For my point of view I think that the metal gear is not really necessary if you're not into hard 3D lever (as I'm not ). Althouh I do have 2 of them on my BW stratuses which I can't feel any difference. LOL.

The grey gears are tuff as he!! I put 1 of my Stratus's in the ground a week ago and the tail hit hard enough to snap the output shaft and never chipped a tooth

Learn to 3D or die trying !!!!

Hi

I'm using the machined alu and Nylon gear in my Stratusses.
Did brake one set, when the tail touched the ground....

Do a little reversing piro stuff
