Lets all give a moment to give Pantera I a blessed ending.
She tried a tic toc with a tail slide. Then hit mother earth.
With over 75 hours of flying she flew to many first, and second place events. She was one of the first Panteras shipped and with all the growing pains, she was a champ. The sister ship has 15 hours of flight time and chomping at the bit to take her place. Not to fast new kid. The Pantera I will be rebuilt. The clock needs to start over as thats how she rolls.

Well, the only way to completely avoid crashing is to not fly and we know THATS not a solution. She served gallantly. Time to rebuild and restart the clock. I flew my Raptor 61 this evening. I was doing some piro stuff I'd never even tried before which means it should have been a Pantera or the Tiger up there but I risked it and it worked out fine. Is this the greatest hobby in the world or what?!

My sympothies Bill. I feel your pain as well. Yesterday one of my helis, a $3000+ custom 10 cell electric committed suicide by flying itself wide open into a transformer and power lines at my club. She went out is a huge, loud blaze of glory. It was a rough weekend for many of us. lol

Holy Heck!!! Sorry about that one J.D. I have to admit though, the way you describe it did make me smile though no disrespect is intended.

J.D.
If your going to go out. Thats the way to do it!
I must say that when I picked up the bits from my crash. The Plank pilots all looked sad. I just smiled and said "The crash was cool eh?"

No problem guys. Glad you got a smile. That heli was cursed from day one. I knew it was coming sooner or later. I'll post some pics of the carnage when I get home from Atlanta later this week.

I moved all the razu stuff from Pantera I to Pantera III. She flys great. I should be dropping the hammer on replacement parts for Pantera I in the next week. I need to have the chopper budget bucket recharge before the order.
Time to play with the BBC proto type. Cheers!

I got my replacement parts the other day. Thanks for the prompt service JB.
As most of you know. When you are replacing main frames. It's a kit!
So it's a good time to inspect all the bearings and everything else.
I will be checking everything as the ship had over 70 hours of flight time. 40 dollars of spare parts and I have new project.

The rebuild is going well. I just got done with the tail boom replacement and working my way to the tail.
I just did a tear down of the tail grips and thrust bearings.
Got to tell ya. The thrust bearings are from JB's proto type.
Still going strong (70 hours of flight testing) and a bit of grease good to go.
I should be flying her this long weekend.
Life is good. back to 4 Pantera's back in the fleet and the BBC is rocking.
Need more Nitro. Down to a case in the bank.

Thank goodness someone has stayed on track Bill. I got off into the land of Raptors (now have a Raptor 60 and building a Raptor 90 with two more as "spares". I'm back to 14 helis. I have also completed a couple small electric airplanes! The Budget R/C Hornet is awesome depron foamie for hovering and 3D.It can be built light enough for indoor use too. If you want a totally no-stress little airplane to finish out a day of flying, try the MS Composit Swift II flying wing. It flies very well and is about as indestructible as one can design and airplane. I LOVE mine. I'm still on gallon #14 of heli fuel. Hopefully I'll get some time in this weekend.
