if i mesh the gears in the tail as instructed thay seem a bit rough
does this improve with use

trickytiker,

If it's rough in one or 2 spots but smooth with zero backlash everywhere else then...
- it sounds like your mesh is good and they will run smoother after a while.

If it's rough all the way around and the gears are properly engaged as shown then...
- try removing 0.1mm from both shafts - if they run smoother and still without backlash then you're good

o/k will do its the depth of the gears if i have them at the depth
in the pics thay tend to be rough all round, i am a watchmaker
the teeth on watch wheels and pinions tend to a differant
shape and run smoother with less friction

Mine where stiff so I ended up loosening the bolts to the tail and clutch, then spinning the main gear, then do up the bolts and check alignment. result was much smoother gears with no play. going to repeat this when the engine is fitted.
